The image file loaded above is an animated -.gif which should automatically
display six different
images based on elevation data of the southwestern US centered over Kingston
Peak. If no image
appears you might not have waited long enough. If only one image appears
you might have
turned off animation in your browser controls.
These pictures are digital elevation maps with relief shading and
also a color elevation scale,
where white corresponds to sea level. This makes Death Valley and
the Salton Sea appear the
same as San Francisco bay. Pictures were made with the dlgv32 pro
viewer available in a free
version from our friends at USGS, along with the data (USA/usadem). Original
resolution is better.
