Owning and maintaining a Jaguar can be an interesting challenge. After 30
years of maintaining, rebuilding, and overhauling cars and motorcycles, I felt
fully competent to take on a Jaguar. This is when I learned that mechanical
aptitude and experience were not the only things required to deal with the

From the Jag Lovers site, you can obtain a list of the various Jaguar related list services that are available. Those with Jaguar XJ-S will learn a great deal from the list xj-s@jag-lovers.org.
Kirby Palm, one of the cornerstones of the XJ-S list has complied a document, titled Experience In A Book, that can be downloaded http://www.nettally.com/palmk/Jaguar.html . This book is required reading for those owning or contemplating purchase of an XJ-S.
Kirby's book has been updated quarterly, and is currently in a format that requires Office 97 or 2000 to open. To download an indexed Word V7.0 version of the August 28, 2000 edition (readable with Version 6) click here. Note that the unindexed version on the Kirby's site may be more current.
This document is meant to be printed. Because the indexing process adds non-printing {XE}notations throughout the document, reading the indexed version on screen is somewhat tedious. (IF someone knows how to turn off the {XE} display in Word, please e-mail me, and I will post the information on this page.
Chas Cameron has compiled a list of common problem areas and general tips. I have added a few thoughts of my own (in italics).

After receiving blank stares and shrugged shoulders from numerous auto parts countermen, a Jaguar owner may decide that Jaguar parts can only be obtained from a Jaguar dealer. In fact, there are a number of specialty suppliers who carry Jaguar parts, such as XKs Unlimited, Terry's Jaguar Parts, Welsh Motors, and John's Cars, to name a few. Details on these suppliers may be obtained from Experience In A Book. In addition, a surprising number of parts are available from aftermarket suppliers, such as Beck - Arnley, Standard Motor Products, and Moog. I have begun compiling a listing of such products. The current version is November 1, 2003. This version was created with Word 2000. To download, click here.
