Metalbillies
Two wildcats and a buffalo, set to the tune of Beck's Two Turntables and a Microphone. That is what your mind's eye might conjure up when looking at or listening to the Metalbillies. The roles are reversed here, the ground you walk on is made-up mostly of Kudzu, and honeysuckle, the air you breathe is a mixture of Floyd Fog, and Kinky Country. Come in here and get your booty paddled around the lake in Central Park, gallop across the pond, and find out what a man is. Well, regarding that last remark, tune in and find out what new twists we will Deliverance. Just remember...
It's O.K. to shoot somebody with your sound, as long as you are trying to get their attention.
Sherefe
Sherefé is a band which plays popular dance and folk music from the Balkans and the Middle East: Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria. Adherence to original scales, modes, forms, lyrics and rhythms is quite strict although there is also ample room for improvisation within these folk traditions. Original scales in the Middle East are known as "maqams" and frequently contain "quartertone" intervals which can't be played on well-tempered instruments. They add subtle fluidity in melody lines and musical ornamentation as well as some notes which definitely sound "different" to non-Middle Eastern ears. Rhythms can also include very common traditional dance beats in 7/8, 9/8, 11/8, etc.
Savage Patty
Savage Patty is a Boulder-based band that is a little hard to pin down. They are a jam band in the fine Boulder tradition, but they also are a fine country-rock band. They also cook an interesting stew of blues, rock, soul, folk, jazz, swing, bluegrass and funk. No wonder they call what they do "Mutt Rock". Next to my kids and my mom, my favorite person on earth is a mixed-breed dog named Rusty. I'd be proud to share this extra-fun CD with Rusty.
From Enfuse Magazine
Electric Messiah
"Embedded in the wooded condemnation of existence, there is a fire:
Easily Forgotten Memory.
Atop the lonely mountain of poetic insecurity, there is a truth:
Everyone's Freakiest Moment.
Around the corner of life's dark tunnel, there is a light, a hope:
Ecstacy's Finest Monument.
Beyond the barrier we know as thought, there is a savior:
An Electric Fucking Messiah, tonight playing eulogies for martyrs."

The Automatics
Dave Philp is best known for his role as the lead singer and songwriter of UK Punk/Powerpop band The Automatics, whose 'When the tanks roll over Poland again' became one of the Punk era`s best loved anthems. More recently Dave`s Automatics have recorded 2 highly acclaimed albums ( Automatics '2' in 2001, and "Forty Virgins in the Afterlife" 2003) and have played several tours of Japan.
Hamster Theatre
Hamster Theatre was first formed in 1993 by Dave Willey, who had previously played in Mark Fuller's group Big Foot Torso with Jon Stubbs. Dave had quit Big Foot to travel to Europe, where he was exposed to music not often encouraged in the states. A lot of free improv, but also post "RIO" bands such as Nimal, and Lars Hollmer's folk-influenced group Fem Soker En Skaat.
Musicians

Peter Stokes is a performer who has appeared around the western US and Canada. His powerful voice, bizarre guitar style and high energy level set him somewhat apart in the realm of acoustic music, however these days he much prefers to pack climbing gear into his van and head somewhere vertical........

Rock On Colorado!
Rock On Colorado! is primarily a live music photography site operated by photographer Dave Barber. Most of the photography is by Dave but he does accept images submitted by other photographers if they are of local live performers and of decent quality. Also featured on the site are articles providing advice for aspiring musicians. Despite the prevalence of photo sites this one is specific enough to make it pretty interesting. If you or someone you know has played some gigs in the Denver area in the past few years there's a good chance Dave was there with his camera.
Pro Sound Web
Pro Sound Web is a site dedicated to the various professional applications of audio technology. There are some great resources for self-education plus a whole bunch of forums. My favorite part of the site is the Live Audio Board, or LAB. The LAB includes several very nice, well moderated and relatively polite forums for those in different fields and at different levels of live sound.
q-music
Joe Breher of q-music is a rare thing: a skilled musician and a very good live sound engineer in one person. I'm glad to know Joe and have benefitted from his professionalism on more than one occasion. When I can't take a gig I am happy to pass it on to him with the confidence that the customer will get top notch service and sound. If you need a system a bit bigger than what I can provide q-music is a great option.
Musician's Superstore
Musician's Superstore is fast becoming my new favorite music store. They are not a big chain so I am more than just another customer to them. The prices are pretty good and the selection is big enough to keep me satisfied.
