Oregunsmithing, LLC is the company name of custom gunmaker, W. Wayne York.
Wayne York has over 35 years of experience in gunsmithing. Wayne is a retired Oregon State Trooper. He was a gunsmith prior
to his police career and continued it as a hobby during his career. Following retirement in 1999, he again became a full
time gunmaker/gunsmith. Wayne shot competitively in Police Combat Shooting for many years and holds several state records
and is co-holder of three national records. He is also an avid hunter and sportsman.
Wayne manufactures custom rifles and handguns. He provides custom services on shotguns. He is one of approximately six in
the United States who offer reboring rifle barrel services. He also does relining.
He has manufactured many types of rifles, including tactical/target, sporting, and his specialty ultra-lite rifles.
The barrels on the ultra-lite rifles are made by Oregunsmithing, LLC and are cut rifled. This ensures accuracy even in the
light weight tapers. Recommended barrel lengths are 22 inches, but have been manufactured up to 27 inches. The following
receivers have been used in the manufacture of this rifle: Remington 7, 700, 721 and 722. Metal is removed from all non-vital
areas of the receivers to produce an extremely light, yet strong and functional receiver. The stocks are also manufactured
by Oregunsmithing. They are constructed exclusively of kevlar carbon fier cloth and special resins with steel reinforcing
pins and aluminum backers for the swivel studs. The recoil pad is integrated into the construction of the stock. The finished
stocks with recoil pad weigh less than 1 pound.
