North Star Highways
Numbered Highway Shield Gallery

Take note of a few things:
1. Minnesota is phasing out the state name on interstate shields
2. Minnesota does not normally use rectangular "stretched" US or state highway sheilds for three digit numbers on standalone shields like some states. Some new rectangular signs are going up, but according to the state sign engineer these are against official policy.
3. The varying condition of the Minnesota shields. Some variation visable is due to lighting and scanning , but signs in the field do vary in condition as they fade rapidly. Compare for example, MN 29 and MN 57. The MN 108 shield is an example that is close to what new signs in the field look like.
4. Other nuances do exist. Compare the thickness of the font on 40 and 41; also note how the non-condensed font is often used on three digit signs that involve a one (139 vs 149). The 293 sign may be an Isanti County creation.
5. There are no signs erected for MN 290 or 309. There are no standalone signs for MN 312 or I-535.
