About Us

The Coalition to Ban Depleted Uranium is an association of representatives from various local progressive, peace and antiwar groups from the New York City / Westchester County area. The groups mission is to educate the public on the widespread use and damaging effects of depleted uranium (DU), a waste product of uranium processing, which is manufactured into weapons and other materials used by U.S troops serving in Iraq and in the previous Gulf War and Balkan conflicts. It's also used in a number of consumer products which are not required to be labeled.

Our initial goal is to press for legislation state by state calling for the testing and treatment of
veterans and returning troops for DU poisoning, and the long term goal is to push for a total ban on the manufacture, sale and use of DU weapons and products.
