In a very brief Transcribed Military Record ( Transcribed 18 February 1891 by D. J. Woodford), listed his trade as a blacksmith when enrolled in 125th OVI. He was 34 years old, 5' 6", slender in build, gray eyes. Enrolled on 14 August 1862

Discharged as First Sergeant 2 April 1864 for the purpose of accepting a Commision at Cleveland, Tennessee.

Re-enlisted as a Second Lieutenant 28 April 1864 Signed and Verified by Captain Elmer Moses B Co. 125th OVI

After the War he studied Law and in 1869 he was admitted to the Bar and practiced Law in Kinsman, Ohio until his death in 1915.

His father (not verified yet) was Henry K. Hulse who is reported to have served with Ohio Militia under Captain Daniel Dull during the War of 1812.

His Grandfather (also not verified yet) was Henry Hulse/Hultz who is reported to have served as a Revolutionary War Patriot.

Richard and Hannah were married for 61 years when Hannah died in 1911 (cause unk). Only one son was reported but a copy of his Last Will and Testament showrd six children. They were:

A William Hulse  that could have been the brother of Richard,  served with the 7th Ohio Cavalry. Three of his nephews served with the Army of Illinois. One was killed in Murfreesboro, one in Atlanta and the third survived. The one
that survived was in the same G Co. 36th IVI as his brother who was killed at Murfreesboro.
