5/10/04 The head rebuild, which includes a new Blakes Lavac Popular toilet, a new, custom welded, 37 gal 1/2" thick
polypropylene holding tank fabricated to fit outboard of the head (replacing the original 24 gal bilge mounted aluminum
tank) fixtures, plumbing and surfaces. New cabinetry, fixtures and related plumbing have been gathered. All
cabinets have been dry fitted and the cabinets will be tabbed to the hull. The new shower and sink fixtures, as well
as the sink all came from Scandvik. The fixtures are Wilcox-Crittenden units. I am working on Formica'ing the
walls in white and getting the Corian counter made. The shower pan and refrigerator will drain to a common sump rather
than directly to the bilge.
The new design will allow easy access to all plumbing, including the tank itself for future maintenance. The idea
is to make the head less claustrophobic by brightening up all the surfaces, more efficient and easier to maintain.
