This year Maple Hill School will recognize Mrs. Marti-Colella and her 5 Be's Program at the Connecticut Association
of School's annual banquet - Celebration of Connecticut Elementary Schools' Success. The 5 Be’s are: Be Cooperative, Be Respectful, Be Peaceful, Be Kind, Be Safe at Maple Hill. The 5 Be's Program has had
a great impact on our discipline ladder, our hallway and assembly expectations, and lunchroom behaviors. The Five Be's program
has been infused in our daily life here for all faculty and staff. Visual reinforcement in the form of posters and banners,
complete with yellow and black bees, are scattered throughout the school as reminders to all.
Veterans' Day
We will recognize Veterans Day at a whole school assembly for students on Friday, November 14. Our theme
for that day is wear your patriotic colors to show your support for the fine men and women in our military!
Student of the Month
Every month each of our teachers will choose one or two students from their classroom to be
Student of the Month. The criteria for this award changes monthly. Some may be chosen because of exceptional mathematical
skills, others are terrific artists, musicians, athletes, readers, citizens and so forth.
This year, we have decided to honor
those chosen in a special way.
Instead of our usual pizza lunch, we will recognize our Students of the Month at our monthly PTO meetings on the first
Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM. The chosen students will have juice and a special dessert and then our principal, Ms.
Kane, will recognize each student’s accomplishments and present each with a certificate and pencil.
We hope that parents, guardians and other invited guests will join us in recognizing the outstanding behaviors
and achievements of these students.
Parents
who would like a copy of their family photo taken at the ceremony should e-mail Mrs. Ciullo at ciulloc@naugy.net and put Student of the Month in subject line.

Dismissal Policy
For the safety and security of all students, we ask that a note be sent in
whenever your child(ren) will be picked up from school. If they will be picked up on certain days on a regular basis, one
note for the entire year is sufficient. If you need to pick up your child(ren) unexpectedly, please call the office prior
to 3:00 PM. All students must be signed out before leaving the building.
Parents requesting dismissal before the normal end of the school day (3:20)
must make a written request, come into the school office to pick up the student,
and sign the student out per Board Policy 5113.2.
Special Thank You to:
Mrs. Soucy and Wal-Mart who contributed $250.00 to our school through their VAP (Volunteerism
Always Pays) Program. Wal-Mart encourages their associates to volunteer in the communities in which they work and live. When
an associate volunteers, Wal-Mart makes a charitable contribution to an organization of their choice. This money has been
earmarked for library books here at our school since Mrs. Soucy spends many hours volunteering in our library.
