Shorts may be worn to school in May and June.  Please be sure that your child's footwear is safe for the daily trips up and down the stairs.

Tooth notes - We still need a note when your child loses a tooth which includes the date.  We have a graph on which to record such milestones

Absence notes - We need a written note explaining your child's absence when s/he returns to school even if you called the office to report the absence.  The nurse keeps it on file and it also helps me to know what illnesses we have going around!

Please put all money that comes to school into a sealed envelope marked with the child's name.  Any money found on the ground that no one claims is put into the next charity donation. Some children have given me their change to add to the pile!

Spelling Homework every week will be as follows:

Monday - Write all words three times each.
Tuesday - Put first five words in sentences. Be sure that sentences are at least five words
in length and underline the spelling word used.
Wednesday - Put last five words in sentences on the back of the same sheet of lined paper.
Thursday - Take a practice test on the purple sheet and study for the test on Friday.
Return the practice test to school.

Thank you for your help with homework assignments Monday through Thursday. Please read the directions for your child, watch him/her complete the assignment, sign the paper after you check it, and have your child return it to school the next morning in the homework folder.
Returning homework is your child's responsibility. Students that forget a paper are given a “reminder notice” so that you know I noticed it was missing.  Simply have your child return the completed paper the next day.
FYI  During the final marking period, children who spell all of the words correctly on the spelling pretest taken on Mondays are allowed to choose three words to be their own personal spelling words for the week. On Monday night, any student who qualifies on the pretest is exempt from writing the regular spelling words three times each.  Instead, they should write their own personal words three times each.  I will keep this homework in order to know which words they have chosen, so they should be sure to record their chosen words somewhere. All other spelling homework for the week remains the same.  On Friday, students who qualify will take the regular spelling test with the class.  After they finish, I will dictate their three personal words for them and they will write them on the back of their test paper.
