Mr. Oni would like to give Lil' Nap a big ol' Happy Birthday shoutout!

August 15th is also the day that Macbeth was done away with by Malcolm ‘Big Head’ Canmore in 1057.

Sun Ra meets Batman. I think it's a riot anyway, and it has some nice guitar and organ work. Samples can be found at Aquarius Records. If you miss the time when record stores were filled with knowledgeable staff, you might enjoy Aquarius Records.

Sun Ra Discography

The Sensational Guitars of Dan and Dale

Batman and Robin, Tifton S-78002 (1966)

Side A: Batman Theme (Hefti), Batman's Batmorang [should be Batmarang], Batman and Robin over the Roofs, The Penguin Chase, Flight of the Batman, Joker Is Wild.

Side B: Robin's Theme, Penguin's Umbrella, Batman and Robin, Swing, Batmobile Wheels, The Riddler's Retreat, The Bat Cave.

An LP, about 34 minutes long, produced by Tom Wilson for a toy company in Newark, New Jersey. January 1966.

To save money, every track except the Batman Theme was based on public domain items like Chopin's Polonaise Op. 53, horn theme from slow movement of Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, love theme from Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet, and lots of perdurable early rock riffs. [rlc] Ed Bland also used Ra and Arkestrans on rock sessions and with blues/R&B singer Popcorn Wylie (supposedly on Epic records). Details unknown.

This looks very silly. and I can't wait.

Hinglish is full of cricket terminology and army metaphors, with echoes of P.G. Wodehouse and Dickens. It contains clunky puns and impeccably logical neologisms.

New York City's Navdeep

Raised on a steady diet of his parents' Indian records from the homeland and trained in traditional tabla and jazz drumming from a young age, Navdeep brings true artistic craft and vision to each cut. Blending his South Asian ancestry with cutting edge breakbeats, smooth trip-hop vocals and gritty hip-hop samples, each track bridges the past to the future.

Navdeep's website has a nice selection of music samples and one can order his Yaathra CD there. You will need to let the short music clip from the intro finish before playing the samples, and don't skip the nine minute sample of his live set.

Those who watch Japanese anime and drama know that swings provide a pensive sanctuary during turbulent times.

The ever curious Jeff Laitila has a nice photo journal on his experience of living in Japan. I added Sushicam to the weblog.

Mr.Oni has received more trailers from the two Captains. Clueless Entertainment is planning a Clueless Collectors Box Set, featuring commentary by SDB. Captain Oblivious surmised that he did not know how many discs it would end up being, but Captain Obvious added that it would have to be a lot.

Mr.Oni replied that they should get their own damn blog.

From The Collectors Box Set, Volume One;

Hanging with SDB

i won't put on airs

Update; The two Captains are now Even More Clueless. Good luck.

USS Clueless is having server problems and is unavailable at this time. As a public service, Mr. Oni posts three fragments that were recovered by the mysterious Captain Oblivious and his imaginary partner, Captain Obvious. Warning, these are just fragments, they lack the fluid cohesion of the original Clueless posts. You've read the essays, now see the trailers.

Nice and Sweet and not too overbearing, you are Milk Chocolate. Everyone likes you to some extent, and a lot of people love you more than they love their cat.

Milk chocolate? I'm a freaking ashtray full of Raisinets. People loathe me because I'm an overpriced compromise at the concession stand of regrettable dates. I'm an emulsified annoyance, that sticks to the box and reminds cat owners how much they 'love' cleaning the litter tray.

This quiz is unforgivable, Mr. Oni is a bittersweet snob!

Next week; "What kind of Chocolate are You, Really?"

Chocolate wrappers of the world.

Update; I've been experimenting with formatting, trying to figure out how I want this Blog to look. I started standardizing things late last night. I haven't tweaked it yet, and won't be able to do so today. It's an improvement even with some existing irregularities.
