Defying Definition

I am that lithe boy
you see silhouetted in the dark
moving from the window
to trace your breast
with a savoring tongue.

I am that catlike girl
arching her back
to take you in
appetite insatiable
for drinking your limbs.

I will not yield a certainty.
I dance away under the stars
spirit defying capture
although my heart may be
beneath the pillow if you look.

I am not what you imagine
and exactly the shape of what you crave.
I come to you unawares
read you poetry or
lay my head in your lap
and make you long to know more

of who I am.
