| February 11, 2007 | Peri's Silver Dollar Bar Fairfax CA |
|
I think this was my first visit to Fairfax. It's a cool little town! If you ever get a chance to go thru I would definitely check it out. Thanks to Krickie for letting us play at the showcase. |

On
my first big night on in Fairfax I visited 2 of the 3 bars. First
stopped at 19 Broadway w/ a $10 cover and a band that wasn't very
captivating. Had an okay drink but there wasn't really a crowd
and it
was cinco de mayo. |
| Wow, are we excited about
this month. We've got a new addirion to the Peri's stable on Wednesdays
in Sacred Profanities, a fun Americana rock band that is sure to have
bunches of friends sitting in and making happy noises! And we have a
couple blast from the past shows, with Don Gallardo back in town for
some family action. For those who don't know, or don't remember, Don
was in several very popular Marin bands, bands like The Station, The
Fitts, among others, before heading out to LA, then Nashville to
further persue his songwriting career. He'll be sharing the stage on a
night when Jeb's Twangfest can't be here due to travel plans, so what a
score that is. Then on the 31st, Garnish songwriter/guitarist Jeremy
Mendonca is back with Norton Money. For those who don't know or
remember, Jeremy and his beautiful and talented significant other moved
to London a few years back so that Sophie could continue her education
at one of the finest schools in the world for her field. And wouldn't
you know it, Jeremy met a guy in London from, where else, Northern
California, who just happened to be a musician and they've been a
pretty happening force on the London scene ever since. Jeremy is back
in town for his annual visit to the old home and the folks and whenever
he's in town, we beg and plead with him to play here, and you know
what, he always says yes. He's the tops! This year he's back with his
London partner in crime and they will grace our stage for a night of
Americana, London style! Some really cool shows of note (OK, they're all cool). We are proud to have the first installment of what we hope to be a long and loving affair with raging Celtic band Culann's Hounds. this is one of the most popular bands in the region and we're very proud they will be here. Of course, Rock-a-billy Hall of Fame memeber Rusty Evans is always a hit. Diamond Ortiz cranks it up another notch and will be playing on a Saturday night this month. Jon Korty of Vinyl will be here with his funk/blues band. And if you haven't seen Craig Caffal, make a point of it this time around. He's spectacular. I overheard him on stage with Jeb's TwangFest mentioning he had played with one of our lost heroes, Bo Diddley, and you know that's hot. All in all, this will be one great month of music and we're so happy to be able to present these musicians in our humble establishment. Thanks to all of you who are coming out and being part of the best music scene in Marin. |
