7/21/97 - In an interview, George Clooney states that he loved playing the character of Seth and would like to return to the role someday. His current schedule will likely prevent him from making more than a cameo in this film, however Tarantino has mentioned a Gecko Bros. movie that would tell the story of Seth and Ritchie's adventures previous to the start of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN. I have no idea if this is something that Tarantino is serious about actively pursuing someday or not. (Special thanks to Michael Taylor for the Clooney info!)
8/5/97 - Miramax's Dimension Films division plans to drain every drop of blood from the vampire franchise. As soon as P. J. Pesce completes production on the prequel, Scott Spiegel will start work on the sequel, TEXAS BLOOD MONEY.* The sequel, based on a story by ''Dusk'' scribe Quentin Tarantino, Spiegel and Boaz Yakim, was scripted by Spiegel and Duane Whitaker (who played Maynard in PULP FICTION). 8/13/97 - Lawrence Bender, Gianni Nunnari and Meir Teper will be the producers of the film and Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino will reportedly be serving in a "supervisor" capacity.
Coming Attractions reports that TEXAS BLOOD MONEY will feature Seth Gecko as the main character. They say that Seth is to continue robbing banks but his companions are now vampires.
One of their scoopers writes that his brother, who is Eric Stoltz's agent, is close to signing Stoltz (PULP FICTION) to star in the film as Seth Gecko's best friend/vampire.
And lastly, they report that Quentin Tarantino will return to play the ghost of Ritchie who only Seth can see.
Some of this would seem to contradict Tarantino's comments about the film and some of it fits in rather well. Only time will tell whether Clooney will actually be in the film, but since the original was shot very quickly and also during the filming of the ER season, it's feasible that Clooney could return, especially since he has expressed interest and also since he has no Batman film to make this fall.
11/8/97 - A scooper informs us that the sequel will lense in 1998.

Will George Clooney star in TEXAS BLOOD MONEY? Well, Dimension film's direct-to-video division is well underway and they even have two big names for their next release when Christopher Walken (PULP FICTION) and Eric Roberts (FINAL ANALYSIS) star in THE PROPHECY II: ASHTOWN, which comes to the direct-to-video market Jan. 20th.
11/9/97 - The film will shoot on location in Texas and Mexico. "The story revolves around the Gecko brothers band of outlaws, and how they return to the bar to make a hiest. I have heard that Eric Stoltz has been approched to play Seth's vampire friend. The part of Seth is still up for grabs at this time. I have also heard that Quentin will be making a cameo as the ghost of the dead brother." (Thanks to Raphael for the scoop!)
11/10/97 - Raphael, who is becoming our all seeing all knowing scooper, responds to my inquiry about George Clooney appearing in the sequel as Seth. "Well the way I have heard it, is that George may not be in the next film. The reason is that it will be a direct to video production, and the budget is only $10,000,000 for both films. (thats 10 mill per film, folks!) There is a possability that he will come back, but it is highly unlikely. His fee for films now days hovers around $7,000,000 give or take. So I would not plan on seeing him in the role of Seth." I would personally be very disappointed to see anyone other than Clooney in the role of Seth. It just wouldn't seem right to see someone else in that black suit and fire tatoo. Especially since Tarantio will be reprising his role as the ghost of Ritchie. Let's all hope that Clooney does Tarantino, as well as us, a favor and does this film. Sure, it's just a little direct-to-video film that he would get no money for, but it would mean a lot to me at least and I'm sure many of you all as well.

11/13/97 - Rumors abound that genre favorite Bruce Campbell (the EVIL DEAD trilogy which Scott Spiegel also worked on) is being sought out for a role in TEXAS BLOOD MONEY. (Thanks to Ira Pearlman!) This could be just wishful thinking on the part of some fan but I know I'd love to see it happen.
12/18/97 - Phil, who's a big fan of From Dusk Till Dawn, was kind enough to e-mail this plot info to me. It's from the Offical package that Miramax sends out to video distributors in hopes of encouraging them to pick up their film. It does contain HEAVY SPOILERS about the film, read on at your own risk. (There's a plot summary for THE HANGMAN'S DAUGHTER on the prequel page, too!)
"TEXAS BLOOD MONEY is the sequel to the hit Dimension film FROM DUSK TILL DAWN. In this story, five outlaws head to the Titty Twister bar to rendezvous with Seth and Richie Gecko (George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino in the first film) to get floor plans of a Mexican bank they plan to rob. Seth is killed in a chase with the police and Richie turns out to be a vampire who bites one of the gang. The bar turns chaotic as the customers and employees are all turned into vampires. All except the gang, who escape to a nearby hotel. In the meantime, FBI agent Stanley Chase, who was pursuing the Geckos, turns his attention to the gang and comes after them. When they attempt to rob the bank, Chase is there. Unbeknowst to him, all of the bank robbers have been turned into vampires except for their leader, Buck. The vampires stage a bloody escape, and Buck must turn to agent Chase to band together to fight them to the end." (Another HUGE thank you to Phil for the info!)
Well, there you have it folks! I suppose Clooney could very well appear in the film if Seth dies a short way into it, but I'll be really disappointed if he does die . . . . By the way, if you're keeping score, John Saxton played FBI Agent Chase in the first film.
And "Excalifunk"sends us this article from Daily Variety:
After making a memorable debut as the villainous morphing cyborg in TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY, Robert Patrick is returning to that horror-sci-fi territory in both films and TV. He's near a deal to take the lead role in Dimension's TEXAS BLOOD MONEY, the sequel to Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn. Patrick will play a bank robber who takes a gang of thieves across the border to Mexico to liberate cash from a bank, only to find one of his compatriots would rather crack a blood bank, since he's a plasma-thirsty vampire. The film, being directed by Tarantino protege Scott Spiegel, will start in January. It's Patrick's second major effort for Miramax, after COP LAND. (Thanks to Excalifunk for the news!!!)
Sounds like Patrick would play "Buck."

1/12/98 - SPOILERS AHEAD!!!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!! Robert writes in to give us some info on The Gecko Brothers' place in this film. Seth may not actually die, or even appear. Here is the dialoge exchange between Razor Eddie (who looks suspiciously like Razor Charlie) and Luther, an escaped criminal who has visited the Titty Twister.
Luther: "What the f*ck happened to this place, man?"
Razor Eddie: "Couple of as*holes came through here, started a bunch of sh*t. Tried to burn the f*cking place down."
Luther: "Looks like they did a good job trying."
Razor Eddie: "Yeah, we got one of their asses. The other one slipped through."
END MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!! SOME MINOR SPOILERS IN THE NEXT PARAGRAPH.
Character names in the film include Luther Heggs, Texas Ranger Otis Lawson, C.W. Niles (who works as a rodeo clown in between jobs), Jesus (a Mexican who loves knives), and the dim-witted Ray Bob. Most of the action takes place in and around a bank robbery commited by Buck and his friends (who turn out to be vampires) and the police who fight them off. Only a small protion of the film takes place at the Titty Twister. Also, does the resemblance of Razor Eddie to Razor Charlie mean that Danny Trejo will also appear in this film (making him the only actor at this point to appear in all three films)? Thanks again Robert!!
1/14/98 - Phil writes in to tell us that Tito and Tarantula may also have some songs in Texas Blood Money and that Tito Larriva himself may also appear in the film.
Robert also writes to confirm that the dialog presented above is the ONLY reference to Seth and Ritchie Gecko that appears in the draft of Texas Blood Money that he has. (So hopefully Seth doesn't actually die!!!) He furthur states that Scott Spiegel has done this on purpose and that even a newscaster in the film will be called Sylvia Lopez instead of Kelly Houge. He also wisely points out that he has an early draft and that much of this could change with furthur drafts and during shooting.
Robert also writes to say that he saw a teaser poster for both films that featured different Titty Twister type bars and the tag line: "BEFORE From Dusk Till Dawn there was THE HANGMAN'S DAUGHTER... AFTER From Dusk Till Dawn there was TEXAS BLOOD MONEY."
1/15/98 - The Internet Movie Database, God bless'em, claims that screenwriter Kevin Williamson (The SCREAM Trilogy, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER) is helping write Texas Blood Money. I have no idea if this is true, but I will say that the IMDb has been wrong before (anyone remember that David Duchovny/Men In Black 2 rumor?).

Brett Harrelson Joins 'Dusk' Sequel by Benedict Carver HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Brett Harrelson (The People vs. Larry Flynt) has signed to star opposite Robert Patrick (Cop Land) in "Texas Blood Money," the sequel to "From Dusk Till Dawn." The film, due to begin shooting in South Africa shortly, concerns a group of thieves who discover during a bank heist in Mexico that one of their own is actually a vampire. Director Scott Spiegel co-wrote the script with Duane Whitaker. It is based on a story by "Dusk" scribe and co-star Quentin Tarantino, "Fresh" director Boaz Yakin and Spiegel. Tarantino and "Dusk" director Robert Rodriguez are producing. Harrelson, who played Jimmy Flynt to his real-life brother Woody Harrelson's Larry in the 1996 "Flynt," appears in two upcoming films: the thriller "Strangeland" and the drama "Dante's View." Hey Mark, I'm a regular reader of your Dusk til dawn page but never had anything worthy of contributing before. I ran into Tom (Sex Machine) Savini at a convention in Manhattan two weeks ago, and he assured me that he would have NOTHING to do with either of the sequels. So i guess that precludes any chance of Sex Machine making a return engagement. Hope you find this bit useful, Keep up the good work, Boogs77

Texas Blood Money started shooting January 19th in South Africa. Joining Robert Patrick and Brett Harrelson are, Bo Hopkins (AMERICAN GRAFFITI, U-TURN), Muse Watson (I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, ROSEWOOD), and Raymond Cruz (CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, ALIEN: RESURRECTION).
1/30/98 - Due to the recent success of horror films, Dimension Films will release both the prequel and sequel in theaters rather than direct-to-video.
2/6/98 - Texas Blood Money will be released on December 11th of this year.
2/11/98 - Looks like the rumor I reported way back on 11/13/97 is true! One of the coolest actors alive, Bruce Campbell, will be appearing in Texas Blood Money. Here's the word from the man himself: "I'm gonna have a "teaser" role in the sequel to "Dusk 'Til Dawn." My old school friend, Scott Speigel, is directing it. I'll be shooting my bit in South Africa early March - and that's ALL I can tell ya..." Of course I was intrigued so I e-mailed Bruce and asked him if he could say anything else about the part but he told me he wasn't able to talk about it just yet. 3/30/98 - Phil send this plot summary in. It's the current offcial summary being sent out by Miramax: In Texas Blood Money, the Gecko Brother's partners in crime are drawn back to the infamous Titty Twister strip bar in search for the floor plans to the bank they planned to hold up. Unfortunately, the gang discovers that Seth is dead and Richie has become a blood thirsty vampire...
Hmmm . . . This brings back up the whole Gecko brothers question. Does Ritchie appear in the film? Does Seth die? Well, I recently spoke with Greg Nicotero of KNB and he told me that Bruce Campbell's role in the film is at the begining. He appears briefly along with Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. This information made Larry Jordi (a faithful reader) wonder if they were playing Seth and Kate and that Seth would die. I just don't know. Campbell and Thiessen are most likely playing new characters but that still leaves the Gecko bros fates in question.
The new tagline for the films? "A Trilogy is born ... From Dusk Till Dawn"
And finally, KNB is returning to provide the effects for the prequel and sequel. The film wrapped principal photography three weeks ago.

I have a "teaser" role in one of the two upcoming sequels to "From Dusk 'Til Dawn." It was shot in Capetown, South Africa, and my old school pal, Scott Speigel, directed it.
I can't tell you much except that the character I play pretty much gets the movie going.
Bruce also states that the film is indeed Direct-To-Video and that it is scheduled to be released at the end of August.

During Bruce Campbell's Aol Live chat he mentioned that his role in Texas Blood Money would be at the very beginning of the movie to get the movie started similar to the way Drew Barrymore did in SCREAM.
Also, I've been hearing it both ways: that the prequel and sequel will be released direct-to-video and that they will be released in the theaters.
7/2/98 - Possible spoiler ahead! One reader, Larry Gibson, wrote in to tell us some really interesting news about TEXAS BLOOD MONEY that should answer many of our questions. A big thank you to Larry for writing in!
Here's what he had to say. He was at a Convention recently in which Tom Savini was a guest speaker and he got a chance to talk to Tom about the prequel and sequel. He said that TEXAS BLOOD MONEY was budgeted at $25 million (a big jump from the $10 million that was originally announced) and would be released theatrically in late October, perhaps on Halloween. He also found out more about Bruce Campbell's role in the film. Campbell plays a character that is mentioned in the first film. When Seth questions Jacob Fuller's pastor's liscence, he mentions a friend of his who "had himself ordained as a minister of his own religion. Some way to f*ck the IRS," he says. Well, Campbell plays that character, who, along with Buck and Seth's other friends, are trying to track down Seth and Ritchie to find the blue prints to the bank they planned to rob. And finally, the BIG news is that Tom showed Larry and some other people actual footage from the film which showed Bruce Campbell in a scene with George Clooney as Seth Gecko!!! Complete with tatoo and everything!! The scene that Larry described had something to do with Campbell and Clooney arguing about a woman or women that they had just killed. I don't know if it takes place in the timeline of the film or if it's a flashback.
And finally, 'dusky' writes in to say that Lawrence Bender, the producer for all three films, said that both the prequel and sequel will have brief theatrical releases in October, which jibes with what Tom Savini told Larry Gibson above. Thanks 'dusky!!'
7/14/98 - From what I hear, the next issue of the horror magazine, 'Fangoria', will have an article about Texas Blood Money. That would be issue #176. I'll try to give you all a heads up when the issue hits the stand. Hopefully it will have pictures from the film that I can scan in for you all since thus far, no pictures have been released!
Rumor Control: The most recent issue of 'Cinescape' has a photo from From Dusk Till Dawn with a blurb claims that actor Michael Biehn (THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS) will take over the role of Seth Gecko in Texas Blood Money. I have no idea why they printed this since the film's photography has been completed for some time and he's not in the cast at all. In fact, that same issue's upcoming film's section doesn't mention him in the cast either, so we can clearly chalk this one up to a big old rumor, especially in light of our reader (see above) who actually saw George Clooney in the film doing a cameo as Seth Gecko.
Also, while we're on the subject of cast. There is a part for actor Danny Trejo, who plays Razor Charlie in both From Dusk Till Dawn and The Hangman's Daugther, in the version of the script that I've seen for Texas Blood Money, however, I haven't been able to confirm that he is actually in the film (which would make him the only actor to appear in the whole trilogy - a very important role!). Can anyone confirm his involvement? And for that matter, can anyone tell me if Quentin Tarantino wound up appearing in TBM?
8/11/98 - This month's issue of Fangoria came out today and as promised, there was an interview with Quentin Tarantino that touched on the prequel and sequel. Here are the portions of the interview that deal with The Hangman's Daughter and Texas Blood Money:
Fangoria: What is your involvment in the From Dusk Till Dawn sequels?
QT: They're not really Dusk Till Dawn 2 and 3. They're just two movies which are kind of in the series. The one that Robert Rodriguez is doing, or rather the one he has developed with his cousin Alvaro, is From Dusk Till Dawn: The Hangman's Daughter. Sonia Braga and Michael Parks star in it. It takes place 100 years prior to From Dusk Till Dawn in the Old West. It deals with the origin of Santanico Pandemonium, how she first got involved with The Titty Twister and how she became the queen of the vampires. The other movie is one which Scott Spiegel is directing; he wrote it with Duane Whitaker, who played Maynard in PULP FICTION. Me, Scott and Boaz Yakin came up with the story for it, and it's called From Dusk Till Dawn: Texas Blood Money. This one takes place two weeks after the first movie. It's about a bunch of Texas bank robbers. One of them, on the way to the rendezvous to rob this bank, goes into what's left of The Titty Twister and gets bitten by one of the vampires. He then goes to the rendezvous and proceeds to little by little bite the other robbers. So as these guys are robbing this bank, they're being turned into vampires.
Fangoria: So your character does not appear in the new films?
QT: No, no. Richard was killed. They were gonna try to work it in . . .
Fangoria: . . . . as a kind of flashback with your character?
QT: It would have ruined the integrity of it. If Richard was supposed to be alive, I wouldn't have killed him.
When Fangoria brought up the idea or more From Dusk Till Dawn films, Tarantino paraphrases Miramax head Bob Weinstein, saying that Bob said, "Dusk Till Dawn did pretty good for us. If we have one that does well, we do six of them."
Fangoria: So beyond the two they just did, there are more coming?
QT: No, no, no. I was just joking, you know. Like CHILDREN OF THE CORN 9 or whatever.
Fangoria: I'm surprised they didn't decide to go theatrical with the Dusk sequel/prequels.
QT: Well, the whole idea is . . . like when they came out with the DARKMAN sequel, straight to video. Now, I didn't see it, but apparently they did a pretty good job with that movie. And it did pretty well, and the idea was to design it to go straight to video, but make it really good. Not like, "Oh, we got this piece of crap, let's throw it on video' -no, let's make the decision now to make it really good and come out with it. You don't have to worry about the reviews and everything, it's just what it is for the fans. We're talking about maybe having some very special release where we show all three of them together. We had a meeting about it with Bob, and he said, "If the movies turn out really good, we can release them theatrically." Robert Rodriguez kicked in and said, "Well, if they're really, really good, we should make it a point to only go out on video with them. Let's make a really good movie for the horror fans on video. And f**k dealing with the critics." It will get played theatrically like crazy overseas.
Not too much new there, but it does confirm that Ritchie will not appear in Texas Blood Money. There were no new pictures with the article.
Also, The Internet Movie Database states that the character Muse Watson plays is named "C.W. Niles." Russell D. Markowitz (WISHMASTER) is the Line Producer and Bob Murawski (ARMY OF DARKNESS) is the Editor for the film.
9/21/98 - Ira Pearlman and 'Castor Troy' both write in to say that Bruce Campbell's Official site says that Texas Blood Money is due for video release in March o 1999 with a possible theatrical release sometime before that, maybe the much reported December 11th date?

Just wanted to tell you that Texas Blood Money and The Hangman's daughter will be previewed at the 1999 Fango Weekend of Horrors in New York. Guests speakers for both films will attend, and I assume that trailers and clips will be shown. The guest list isn't available yet so I'm uncertain who will show up on behalf of the Dusk duo. Keep in mind the films will not be screened, but expect plenty of info.
10/27/98 - I dropped a line to Greg Nicotero of KNB Effects about the scooper who wrote to this site on 7/2/98 claiming that Tom Savini showed a clip of Texas Blood Money at a horror convention that the scooper was at and that the clip had George Clooney as Seth in it. Well, Greg wrote back to say that Tom would not have any clips of the film and that George is NOT in Texas Blood Money.

Just wanted to tell you that the March issue of Fangoria (Due out January 12) will feature an on set report of Texas Blood Money. It will also feature an in depth interview with Robert Rodriguez.
11/7/98 - The Internet Movie Database has a release date of March 12th for Texas Blood Money. It also states that this will be a theatrical release. Oh, and there's a link to a review of TBM at Movieguru.com. The review is a piece of crap, though, so be warned. It just slams the film but never backs it's harsh words with any reasoning or any kind of quality critism whatsoever. In fact, I question whether the writer even saw the film because he/she doesn't even have their facts straight (for example, they write that Seth Gecko is now played by Robert Patrick, a rumor that has been printed in a few magazines this year and one which people who don't know anything about the film keep repeating. For the record, Seth Gecko is NOT in TBM, and Patrick plays a character named 'Buck' who is a friend of Seth's).
11/8/98 - Cinescape On-Line had this report on TMB today:
Is there a chance that the sequel to From Dusk Till Dawn, Texas Blood Money, will make the big jump to the big screen rather than its previously mentioned direct-to-video status? According to UniversalÕs Horror Online website, the feature will hit theaters on December 11th. My schedules didnÕt show the release, so I put in a call to a contact at Dimension who immediately (and politely) laughed off the theatrical release story saying the film was, as of this time, "still direct-to-video." He chalked the theatrical rumor up to some over-zealous fan sites.
I wonder if Dimension will ever stand up and start making some firm press releases on these films . . . . It would certainly be nice to end all the speculation. Mmmmm . . . and speaking of speculation, I hope this site is not included in that "over-zealuos fan sites" comment. ;-)

2/22/99 - Check out the new issue of Cinefantastique (Vol. 31, #3) for an interview with Scott Spiegel about TBM. He has a few interesting things to say, including some details about his original version of the story. Yes, Seth would have been killed early on and when his bank robbing buddies go to The Titty Twister in hopes of finding Ritchie (who the cops don't know is dead yet) they find that Ritchie is now the king of the vampires. Tarantino didn't like the idea of using Ritchie again so it was scapped (thank you, QT)! Also, here are two new pics from the article and a wider look at the Danny Trejo shot from Fangoria. Enjoy!

3/16/99 - Well folks, Texas Blood Money is now out! I have seen the film, but chosen not to write a review because I don't want to give anything away or give you guys too many notions of what to expect before you see it.
