Why should I set aside natural areas for birds and other wildlife? It's a known fact that every minute of every day, more and more of our native landscape is being bulldozed, paved or replaced with commercial buildings and housing developments. This forces Texas wildlife and migratory species into smaller and smaller environmental niches. You can do your part by setting aside areas of your property to help save these displaced creatures - just by providing native forage, cover and water. Here at the nursery, we have a two acre nature trail planted with a wide variety of trees, shrubs, grasses, palmitos, and wildflowers from the Hill Country, Trans-Pecos and South Texas regions. The trail is home to butterflies, hummingbirds, roadrunners, all types of songbirds, lizards, toads, and even an occasional fox. Throughout the year there is alway something to see, an ever changing panorama of the colors and textures of Texas. |
