Mischa Olga Galitzen-Weiss

Mischa will be 15 soon, amazing to me, my earthquake girl, born just over a day after the Loma Prieta Earthquake of October 1989. She's a junior this year at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland and is in Honors Chemistry and Spanish. Mischa's been involved in sports for the longest. She hated acrobatics because of "the splits," didn't warm much to jazz and tap, and the best part of ice-skating was the costume. But once she discovered soccer, Mischa found her niche. She's been playing soccer for about eight years, and last semester, played on O'Dowds' junior varsity Lacrosse team while maintaining an outstanding grade point average. She blows me away.

Mother's Note: Between playing lacrosse on the varsity team, doing homework, and talking on the telephone, Mischa hasn't had a chance to visit this site. Maybe that's good. Last time she posted a message on my behalf, to prospective online daters.

It's prom time, when a young girl's thoughts turn to dresses, nails and hair. Oh, then there's buying the perfect pair of shoes, an exercise that most likely, will occur this weekend. I'm guessing that it will take a minimum of three shoe stores to find the absolute right ones, if we're lucky. But then, these are the shopping adventures from which fond memories are made. Did I also mention that she'll be taking the SAT's this Saturday? Now I did.
