It was the Eli and Peyton show this weekend in the PTL, with Leviathans fans watching with baited breath for the outcome of the contest. The Jagermeisters entered the weekend as 32-point favorites.
The Manning brothers didn’t disappoint, either. It seems Eli has at last found his niche in the pros, earning an impressive 38.45 fantasy points (only 2.15 fewer than his elder brother). The two helped keep the contest close.
The Leviathans were also aided by another exceptional performance from LaDainian Tomlinson at running back. L.T. amassed 134 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 25 carries, earning him a second consecutive week as PTL’s leader in that position. Not too shabby!
Of course, the PTL contest came down to the wire with Monday night’s Panthers-Packers brawl. A strong first half from the Panthers seemed to favor the Leviathans, but a Packers comeback in the second, helped the Jagermeisters. In the end, the Panthers element in the Leviathans’ roster put the coveted “W” in the boys in green’s column.
The Jagermeisters fall to 2-2 on the season, while the upstart Leviathans improve to 3-1. If the future is any indication, expect good things from the combination of Eli Manning and LaDainian Tomlinson in the Leviathan lineup.
The Leviathans’ next target is the Barenjagers, who, at 2-2, are favored to win next week’s contest. The main reason? Giants’ bye week. We could always pray for Drew Brees to get hurt . . .

So what’s a ‘leviathan?’
Good question! Most dictionaries today classify any large aquatic animal as a leviathan. But for the purpose of our mascot, we look back to the ancient book of Job in the Bible, which describes the leviathan as a type of fire-breathing sea serpent. Imagine a dragon that lives in the water. Pretty fierce picture, isn’t it? Anyway, we thought it would make a nice image for our team mascot. And we hope that our opponents on the field will develop a healthy respect for our mascot’s Creator.
