INTRODUCTION TO LINDY HOP
This class/workshop develops Lindy Hop vocabulary and builds essential partnering skills.
CORE CLASSES
Core Classes are ongoing seminars that integrate topics in styling, partnering skills, musicality, and improvisation.
Small classes allow for individual attention, and topics evolve in response to the needs of students who attend regularly.
>> Core I is for all dancers.
>> Core II is for advanced dancers; enrollment is by permission of the instructors.
SPECIAL TOPICS
In addition to the core program, we offer classes that focus on specific topics for intermediate to advanced dancers.
Special topics include:
>> 8 Leadable (really!) Charleston Variations
Charleston patterns are a fundamental part of
the Lindy Hop vocabulary and an essential element in dancing to fast tempos. Drawing on 20s Charleston, classic Lindy Hop
Charleston, and contemporary innovations, this class also covers three key concepts that make any Charleston figure leadable
on the social dance floor.
>> Adding Flair: Presence and Style
for Social Dancing
A dynamic presence makes your dancing exciting to watch, and it can also contribute to a more dynamic partnership. This
class explores ways to develop your personal style on the social dance floor and improve connection with your partner, all
at the same time!
>> Big Apple and Jazz Steps
for Social Dancing
Jazz steps are a core element of the Lindy Hop vocabulary and give you a foundation of solo material
with which to improvise and define your style. In this class we work on the Big Apple in its original form as a called dance,
as well as ways to ways to incorporate jazz steps into your social dancing.

Tempos
Faster tempos are the foundation of classic Lindy Hop. In this class develops strategies for expanding
your options for dancing fast, communicating with your partner, and making it all look- and feel- easy.

This class uses challenging patterns to explore more sophisticated possibilities for interacting with a partner and responding
to the music.
>> Lindy Hop Routine
This class uses
choreographed routines, comprised primarily of leadable figures, to explore styling, presentation, and approaches to building
on the music.
>> Musicality
This class explores ways of finding inspiration in musical structure and dynamics and builds the skills needed to be responsive
on the social dance floor.
>> Styling for Leads and Follows
From the fundamentals of Lindy Hop styling to the subtle choices that make the dance your own, this class explores the
challenges of using your whole body to express yourself as a social dancer or performer.
>> Tired of the Same 4 Moves?
If you're starting to feel like you do the same old moves (or variations, or accents, or embellishments) over and over
again, this class will help you break out of your rut. We work on breathing new life into those same old moves as well as
new material and strategies for keeping your dancing fresh.
