Findlay, C. D. - 2d Lieutenant April 15, 1861. Resigned June 1861. Elected Captain of Co. A, 5th Regiment Ga. Reserve Inf. March 9, 1863; Lieutenant Colonel June 8, 1864. Captured at Macon, Ga. April 20-21, 1865. Died September 29, 1910. (Son of Robert Findlay. Robert Findlay established the Findlay Ironworks in Macon, Georgia, and made a variety of iron products such as ammo and cannons. The Findlay Ironworks was known as the Macon Arsenal during the War. Several Findlay cannons are found at Kennesaw State Park, and one is on display at the Cannonball House in Macon. The book "Cotton, Fire, and Dreams," by Robert Davis, describes more about the Findlay Ironworks and family. Ancestor of Amanda Findlay Garnett.)
