This book represents the teaching philosophy followed during
thirty-three years at the Art Students' League of New York.
It is not intended to provide all the answers, but to merely demonstrate viewpoints as expressed for those involved in art,
in one way or another.
It has an abundance of quotes, as well as some of my own thoughts,
and, they not only show preferences, on my part, but show attitudes
I brought to my own work.
It is very clear that the relationship between society and artists
is very complex, that there are NOT, and NEVER WILL BE, complete
answers to the problems that develop.
