Getting organized. I can find recipes when they are stored electronically. Select recipes by ingredient or author or cooking method. I can change the number of servings and/or portion size. Play with the ingredients; omit some and substitute others. All this and still get an accurate summary of the nutrition, which includes calories, fats, and fiber -- the three facts that are needed to calculate Weight Watchers points.
Using MasterCook has introduced me to an internet community of helpful cooks who also use the program. We swap information, tips and recipes. I've met friends who use MasterCook. MasterCook is up to the challenge of large cookbook collections. It lets me change the status of my books from "archived stacks" to "Active collections." What that means: I don't have to deal with all my cookbooks all the time (although I can make them all available for searching whenever I want.) I can pick and choose which set or which one(s) I want to read. I can organize the books into collections that make sense to me. [...screenshot]
