Jim's primary hobby interest is amateur radio. He was first licensed
in March of 1977 as a novice class with a callsign of WB6WMW. He
upgraded to General a few months later in June of 1977, and then again to
Advanced in September of 1979. Just recently, Jim upgraded to Amateur
Extra. When the vanity call program came out for Advanced class
amateurs, Jim changed his call to his current callsign of K6CCC.
His primary activities are building and maintaining VHF and UHF
repeaters and packet
systems, talking to other ham radio operators via fast scan amateur
television, and most recently talking through
satellites. He is quite active in the
Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES)
throught the California Office of Emergency Services.
