WALKTHROUGH

INTRODUCTION

This is the Complete Walkthrough and contains every action needed to finish the game with the least amount of backtracking. If you would rather have hints and nudges before the final solutions are revealed, see my Hint File on UHSWeb.

Artwork for all maps was provided by Sound Source Interactive and are copyrighted by them. Adaptations have been made to clarify certain sections. All maps were updated for easier viewing and printing on Sept. 4, 2000.

You will be able to find all of the essential items and go to the important sections in each location. Feel free to explore the different locations. There are other areas not covered in this walkthrough, such as secret tunnels and passages, additional rooms, etc. Because each player has a different style, you should know when you need to heal your character and recharge your weapon. For this reason, the locations of the healing boxes (and later pods) are not provided in this walkthrough.

For those of you who have seen The Abyss movie, Deepcore was the underwater research station, and the NTI Ark was the large alien ship seen at the end of the movie. Europa is one of Jupiter's moons.

Basic Tips:
READ THE USER'S MANUAL! Become very familiar with the keyboard controls.

Draw maps and take notes when you see, hear or read clues given to you by the game screen, your spouse or other characters you meet. Explore each room thoroughly from every available angle.

Using items can become troublesome at times. If you have problems, for instance, inserting a key into a lock, adjust your angle of approach up or down and from side to side, and try again. The same is true for picking up items. You may find it necessary to literally ram into the item by taking a running stride toward it.

Because it is very easy to get turned around and completely lost, SAVE OFTEN! Once you leave one of the major locations you cannot return to it. It is important that you save a game before you leave Deepcore and the NTI Ark, just in case you forget something.

Only five games can be loaded at one time in the Save directory. To save more than five, copy them from the Save directory into another one.

Weapons and Ammunition:
The weapons here are for stunning - not killing. Instead of killing the enemies, stun them and try to stay out of their way. The Level 1 Stunner can be found near the Moonpool's Diving Platform on the Deepcore Station when you first start. At first, it will hold just 3 charges, so make your shots count! Two shots will stun the Mutant enough for you to move beyond it. Look for Stunner Recharging Stations near the Moonpool and in the Elevator Bays. A more hefty charge can be found once you can swim underwater. Two better weapons can be found later in the game.
