Comments: I wish our dojo had such an-ice surface to pract- ice on. If our dojo had such a surface, our tenkan's would be smoother, and it yould be a lot easier to understand how to guide Uke into a downward spiral. All we would have to do is drop a large chunk of ice over the edge of our iceberg creating a downward spiral into which we could both dive. Before signing off... I must mention that AaaRk sensei's teaching is the stuff of ledgend. Take the time he asked his class to go with the flow. It took a whale to bring everyone back on course.

Comments: Cool site Prosthetics There is an articulated arm available from an articulated arm manufacturer; maybe this can be modified for Penguin use? An alternative is to let natural selection take place. Anyone who has practiced Aikido for many years develops huge wrists, love handle hips and a loss of all reason. By this hypothesis a Penguin who practices long enough would develop the necessary fingers and thumbs. History The ICEni passed the martial spirit onto the Penguins during the occupation. At this time Sensei Boudicca would be the most influential teacher, her philosophical approach was to leave a lasting impression. If you look into the eyes of a Penguin the muso aspect from Sensei Boudicca will be present and Enzan no Metsuki (looking at a distant Iceberg) is directly attributed to her. Their concentration is legendary, who else could fall over just looking at a plane, over and over again! The Hombu generally has periods of greatness; Ueshiba’s first period, the second generation students, the Ice age, also known as the ICEni Penguin era and latterly the “I’m a true master as I read the first printing of Bru Tegges Aikido locks and holdalls and practiced with a now dead master who lost my Certificated and can not verify my authenticity. Terms Ice age; never ask a Penguin his age as the rely is always “how old do think I am”, this will inevitally result is an embarrassing reply. Ice dine; I serve, corrupted a term during the German occupation. Icebreaker; huge breakfall Ice fall; result of huge breakfall, see Icebreaker. Personal I think many Aikidoka can sympathise with your training hardships as from personal experience I have practiced early on a Winter’s morning and the first job was to clear the Ice from the tatami, then cover any fissures in the mat to ensure no one was kicked in the ice hole. Forum I am unsure of many other aspects of Aikido on Ice and I am sure other readers can fill in some of the gaps, especially the blue period and some of the more esoteric terminology.

Comments: Nice to see that there are some more Antarctic aikidoka. I`m not the only one of my dojo doing marine science, some of my collegues went to the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar Research in Bremerhaven and started the FIGHTING PENGUINS department of our dojo. On their long voyages on RV Polarstern towards the Antarctic some of them set up an aikido dojo in one of the unused rooms. If the weather was nice, weapons training was on the helicopter deck. One of my friends has a quite spectacular (pasted...) photo of her and a friend doing ken tai ken on an ice floe. Anne
*So THAT'S who they were. The sailors said there were some guys in dresses pretending to be helicopters with big sticks for rotors, but they just thought they were daft!- AaaRk*
