Aloha!
"Island Time" is a radio show on perhaps the coolest station on Earth! We play music mostly of Hawaii, but also from the
other countries of Oceania - like Tahiti, Maoriland, Rapa Nui, Fiji, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, and many more.
Island Time airs on KAOS community radio, which means that it is non-commercial and largely volunteer-operated. Our studios
are at The Evergreen State College.
Nobody tells us what to play, as long as we follow some reasonable FCC rules (no naughty language and the like). KAOS also
has its own guideline - the 80/20 rule - where at least 80% of our music must come from independent record lables, and no
more than 20% should come from the big labels. No problem for Island Time!
On this site, the playlist will be posted weekly, usually within the same day that the show has aired (well, that's a wee
overly optimistic). You can find events in the region related to Hawaiian and other Pacific Island culture also, as well as
links to artists and other cool stuff in the area and in the islands!
Tune in on Monday mornings, wherever you are onthe planet! Let me know what you think about the site and the show - on the
show and on this site. Just contact me, right here!
If you're listening to the show, it'd be great to know that you're out there. Tell me what you want more or less of. It's
your show to enjoy!
Mahalo (Thanks) for stopping by!
Your host, Anch
