Announcing a Special Issue of the ACM
Journal on Educational Resources in Computing

Theme:
Software Support for Discrete Mathematics Teaching

 

Types of contributions sought:

 

  • Assessments of current software support for discrete mathematics teaching, with evaluations of outstanding examples. Such assessments should describe the evaluation methods used and might take into account the curricular priorities for computer science and information systems programs.
  • Identification and specification of needs for new discrete mathematics teaching software. This approach should describe the methods used to determine what software is needed and might take into account the curricular priorities for computer science and information systems programs.
  • Descriptions of new discrete mathematics software tools to be published through JERIC. Descriptions of software to be published should make clear the purpose and context of the software and how it can be used.
  • Reports on outcomes research on the use of discrete mathematics software in teaching. What are the long-term benefits of using such software? How should outcomes assessment be implemented for discrete mathematics software support of teaching?
  • Recommendations on how to use discrete mathematics software effectively in teaching and how to evaluate and mobilize quality software resources for convenient student and faculty use.
