More Examples of Southern State Issued Banknotes of the Confederacy
LOUISIANA
On January 26, 1861, Louisiana became the 6th State to secede from the Union. Many of the 1862 and 1863 State issued Louisiana notes have very ornate backs, unlike most of the other Southern state notes that are plain on the back. All 1864 State issued notes are known as uni-faced or plain back notes.
