If you want to see the Nicktoons channel's schedule at Nick.com (the only one that has episode titles), click here; note that the schedule is for the Eastern time zone - subtract one hour for Central, two for Mountain, and three for Pacific

Also, if you live in the Eastern or Central time zones (and possibly in some parts of the Mountain time zone as well), "Nick Too" repeats the entire Nickelodeon lineup on a three-hour delay.  (In the rest of the USA, including all of the Pacific time zone, Nick Too is simply the same thing that Nickelodeon is showing, at the same time.)

WHAT'S NEWS? - Last Updated March 13

Apparently, while all of the season 1 through 4 episodes air on Nicktoons, the following season 5 episodes do not (at least not yet): Suspended / Ernie In Love, Summer Love, Gerald's Game / Fishing Trip, Married, The Racing Mule / Curly's Girl, Timberly Loves Arnold / Eugene, Eugene!, Ghost Bride / Gerald vs. Jamie O, A Day In The Life Of A Classroom / Big Bog's Crisis, and Phoebe's Little Problem / Grandpa's Packard.  (Well, "The Journal" doesn't air either, but that's not surprising as only one show longer than an hour has ever aired on Nicktoons as far as anyone can remember (the As Told By Ginger Nick Flick "Foutleys on Ice".  As for "April Fools' Day", I'll let you know after the April 1 schedule appears.)

The "early morning classics" are coming back, starting March 14 (note that some shows are on at 6:00 AM and others at 6:30 AM):
3/14 (6:30 AM) - Butt Ugly Martians
3/15 (6:00 AM) - Animaniacs
3/17 (6:30 AM) - Oh Yeah! Cartoons
3/18 (6:30 AM) - Caitlin's Way
3/22 (6:30 AM) - The Angry Beavers
3/23 (6:00 AM) - Invader Zim
3/25 (6:30 AM) - Clueless

Guess what - Nickelodeon decided they would rather air an episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender rather than "Big Gino / Jamie O in Love" on Nickelodeon...
It did, however, did air on Nicktoons as scheduled, so it's not a situation where there is something in the episode Nickelodeon doesn't want kids to see (the way an episode of Rocko's Modern Life is not aired because it involves a plane crash).
Here's a list of reasons I can think of that some parent might have complained:
1.  Gino perpetuates the "Italian-Americans are all in the Mafia" stereotype.
2.  Sid is given a "swirly" (they put his head in a toilet and flushed it); they don't show it happening (it is behind a closed toilet stall at school when it happens, and they never show the picture they take of Sid when it happens), but they don't want any kids getting any ideas anyway.
3.  The "hobby horse's head in the bed" scene might be considered just a bit too disturbing.
4.  There's a scene where Sid is sitting on a toilet - he still has his pants on, but still, I can see some parents freaking out over somebody just sitting on a toilet.  (There was a time when even the sound of a flushing toilet on TV was frowned upon.)

I have added a link (below the schedule grid) to see the Nicktoons channel's schedule, in case you want to know which episodes are going to air on Nicktoons.  (The show's current schedule is: weekdays at 9:30 AM (Eastern), repeated at 1:30 PM, Saturdays at 7:00 PM, and Sundays at 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM (two different episodes), repeated at 8:00 PM and midnight.)  Note that there is only one "feed" for Nicktoons, so subtract one, two, or three hours in the Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones.

Even better news - remember when I said the show was moving from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM beginning February 14?  Nickelodeon has moved the start of the new time back to February 7.  Here's what appears to be the new weekday schedule:
6:30 AM - Rocket Power
7:00 AM - The Fairly Oddparents
7:30 AM - Jimmy Neutron
8:00 AM - Rugrats
8:30 AM - SpongeBob SquarePants
Nick Jr. on from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
2:00 PM - Rugrats
2:30 PM - Rugrats
3:00 PM - CatDog
3:30 PM - Hey Arnold!
4:00 PM - The Fairly Oddparents
4:30 PM - Jimmy Neutron
5:00 PM - SpongeBob SquarePants
5:35 PM - My Dad The Rock Star
6:10 PM - U-Pick
6:45 PM - Rugrats (half-episode)
7:00 PM - Jimmy Neutron
7:30 PM - The Fairly Oddparents
8:00 PM - SpongeBob SquarePants
On Fridays, the schedule changes from 8-10 PM; unfortunately, Nick.com no longer lists what is on after 8 PM, so their last-second schedule changes will come as a surprise, although expect the one and only airing each week of My Life As A Teenage Robot to be on Friday nights.  (As for other shows: The Wild Thornberrys is still on Saturday and Sunday at 6:30 AM; As Told By Ginger is still nowhere to be found; ChalkZone seems to have disappeared from the schedule as well, at least for now, although somebody at Frederator said that it will be on every weekday afternoon starting right around when summer vacation begins.)

No, they're not getting rid of the U-Pick Arnold half-episodes permanently; it's just for one week.  (This could be bad news for us Teenage Robot fans; usually, airing new episodes of a show five nights in a row is a sign that Nickelodeon is getting tired of it - this is what happened to CatDog and The Wild Thornberrys before they stopped making new ones.  It's bad enough they replaced it on Saturday and Sunday mornings with All Grown Up!.)

Serves me right for thinking Nickelodeon wouldn't pull a last-second switch.  Apparently, Arnold isn't on the weekend afternoon schedule after all, as Nick has replaced the listed afternoon lineups with marathons.  (Then again, there will probably be at least one Arnold marathon in the next few months.)

Grandpa wins an Emmy!  Well, it was for Grampa Simpson, and Homer, and Krusty the Clown, and I think Barney and Kent Brockman may have been in there as well...anyway, Dan Castellaneta has won his third Emmy (his first since 1993) for his voiceover work on The Simpsons (specifically, the episode with Krusty's bar Mitzvah).  (And notice that "Grampa Simpson" is spelled with an M, while "Arnold's Grandpa" is spelled with an ND; that's not a typo.)

There is an Arnold connection to the 2004 Emmy awards; Derek Drymon (first season storyboard artist, and second season storyboard director) and Juli Hashiguchi (first season animation director, credited as "Juli Murphy-Hashiguchi" back then) were nominated as part of the staff for the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "SpongeBob B.C.", which was nominated in the Animated Program (One Hour or Less) category.  Don't go looking for this category during the main Emmys broadcast on September 19, as it is part of the awards given out the previous week.
However, the Emmy went to Cartoon Network's Samurai Jack

If you're interested in getting Nickelodeon to become interested in a second Hey Arnold! movie, somebody came up with this idea: if as many people as possible write letters (that's letters, and not E-mails) to Nickelodeon (at 1515 Broadway, New York, NY 10036) asking that they consider working on "The Jungle Movie", and (here's the interesting bit) they all do it pretty much at the same time, perhaps Nickelodeon might take more notice to the fan interest.  The idea is to do it during the first week of each month.  (Of course, if Nickelodeon gets a flood of letters at the same time saying the same thing, there's always the chance that they'll think that it's not "general fan interest" but an organized effort of some sort, but at least they know there's some interest.)

If you think you hear somebody who sounds like Curly on CBS, you may be right: Michael Welch (Curly in "Curly's Girl") is one of the stars of Joan of Arcadia.

Good news for all of you who have asked about contacting the show's music composer, Jim Lang, or wondered if he had a website: he does now, at http://www.knobworld.com, and it includes some of his music (not just Hey Arnold! tunes, either) and an E-mail link to him.

Michael Jeter, the voice of either Sid's father or Eugene's (one of these days I'm going to find out which), died on March 30 of natural causes (he was HIV-positive, but it is not known yet if this had anything to do with it).  Jeter was probably best known for his role on the TV series Evening Shade (he won an Emmy for it in 1992), although he was an accomplished stage actor as well; he won a Tony in 1990 for the musical Grand Hotel.

All Curly fans take note: Adam Wylie (the voice of Curly in all but three episodes) has been appearing in WB's Gilmore Girls as Brad.  (At least one episode references Brad's "appearance" in the musical Into the Woods - which, in fact, included Adam as Jack (of "Jack and the Beanstalk") before it closed at the end of 2002 (however, the cast album is available on CD - it's the "Broadway revival" version, with Vanessa Williams as the witch).)

Ever wonder why there isn't really a Yahoo soda (besides the obvious "Yoo-Hoo might sue")?  A company in India was selling "Yahoo! Tea" - until the company that owns the Yahoo! websites (www.yahoo.com) sued, claiming that it owns the "Yahoo!" name (and there are some Yahoo-brand items being sold).  (By the way, Yahoo.com started in 1994, so they were here first.)

If you missed the chat with Craig Bartlett on November 1, Click Here for an edited transcript ("edited" to remove pretty much everything except the questions to Craig and his answers).

Another Hey Arnold! writer makes good: Glen David Gold (who wrote "Magic Show") recently had his novel Carter Beats the Devil (which, coincidentally (or is it?), deals with a magician) published.

Arnold did it again! Another life saved because somebody remembered watching Arnold giving Eugene the Heimlich maneuver. (Ironically, that episode is being shown twice this month. By the way, the first one was in May, 2000, in southern California.) This time, it's in Washington state: see
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/134306954_boyhero15m0.html for details.

The things you read in books...did you know that there really was an "Operation Ruthless" during World War II - and that it has something to do with James Bond? (See the Episode 107 capsule for details)

Want to see some of Craig Bartlett's non-Arnold animation (well, besides the earliest "Penny" cartoons from Pee-Wee's Playhouse)? Craig has a 10-second cartoon on The Paris Concert for Amnesty International: The Struggle Continues (it's on the DVD version; I don't know if a VHS version exists or if it's on it if it does).

WHO DO I BLAME FOR THIS SITE?

This site is maintained by Don Del Grande (hey-arnold@earthlink.net) - send comments, complaints, corrections, cease & desist orders, or suggestions to that E-mail address (except that I have enough characters, if not too many, listed as it is, so please do not ask me to add any more); however, keep in mind that I have nothing to do with the show itself other than being one of the three million people in the USA that watches it
