Very few people I know of personally are actually gifted with
adequate courage to trek beyond the normal investigative procedures. And there
is only one person that I know of that is audacious enough to quarry somberly into old mysteries, local legends and uncover
the layers of untruths associated with such accounts. The person I’m referring
to be none other then Bart Nunnelly himself; a true trooper when it comes to all things paranormal, Cryptid, or the unthinkable.
I realized a little too late that nothing could have prepared
me sufficiently to meet this icon of a man. His whole persona radiated with such
an energy that it was challenging to keep up with him at times. Bear in mind
that I’m not complaining, just explaining how engrossed I was to just be in his presence. One could not help but to absorb the enthusiasm this man emitted, nor ignore the obvious dedication he
had for this slotted investigation. Along with his brother-in-law Tom and his
movie director John, the team adhered to an austere agenda during the three days they were in the area. These ‘three amigos’ stayed true to their expected purpose and I would have to say accomplished
most of what they traveled here for. Albeit they didn’t get to have an
up front and personal run-in with the Beast of LBL the tension leading up to such a planned event was substantially uneasy,
as you will be privy too when you watch the documentary.
Their in-depth exploration into the mysterious ‘bunkers’
took several twists with a plethora of possibilities emerging; mainly they could not understand fully as to why these strange
concrete left over structures had more then a few ‘historical explanations’ as to their origins given by the employees
of LBL. I will not dwell on their own hypotheses as you will no doubt be granted
excess to their interpretations in the DVD, but we all agreed that they were not ‘the root cellars of the previous inhabitants
from back in the 1940’s’ as we had been told.
I’m going to actually cut this short as I don’t want
to give anything away concerning the movie but I will continue this discussion after it has been released to give you more
insights into this monumental exploration.
My heartfelt thanks to Bart and his crew for creating the time
and putting forth the effort to come down here and seek out the truths that lay around this local legend, and also to have
done it in such an impressive professional manner. I can only pray that by coming
forth to actually narrate this legend in person that it will cause even more people/witnesses to be courageous enough
to come forward as well in the future.
One last note…. There is a repeated story going around about
how the legend got started that is given out too methodically by a few of the employees of LBL, and is a total outright falsehood. They all should be ashamed of themselves for spreading such rumors and involving my
family in such dealing as drug addicts, dealers and manufacturing. One such employee
gave the explanation that ‘I had made it all up because I was on drugs, my whole family was doing drugs, etc…’
and told it right in front of me with two other gentlemen present, all the while claiming she knew me personally and telling
them all about how I grew up around there and that I just wanted attention. The
woman didn’t even know who I was as I was standing right there in front of her while she was relating all these prefabricated
lies. After I introduced myself she stood shamed faced and shocked and
I quickly corrected her on all her slanderous comments. Most importantly of all
I reminded her that in no way did I ever want any attention for myself, why else would I have laid in the shadows for over
two decades. And, as a footnote, I am not from around here nor did I grow
up in this area; I only moved here permanently when I was 19 years old. And,
I could tell you all a few things about this particular woman and her own history making events in the area, but, I’m
not lowering myself to her standards.
