Some personal notes from Jan on the airing of 'Demon Child' on the Discovery
Chanel,
I would like to include the following information if I may, so you can get a larger scope
of what went on during the filming/selection process.
All of the stories portrayed on this series are based on true accounts. The Producers, New
Dominion, who produce several shows for the Discovery Channel, investigate each story with close scrutiny, careful consideration
for all the facts, and perform throural investigations into the complete sphere of the whole incident in question. This
is all done before they even consider sending out a film crew to the location to work on interviews with the witnesses and
film the surroundings where allowable. This is before an actual script is even written up. The production company has to take
it on the witnessess words that these events actually happened and cannot prove anything themselves, they only present them
as entertaining stories for the audience to view and make up their own minds. New Dominion contacted me last year (2005) after
finding the story on the web at Guardian Tales, and did extensive interviews before even considering making it into an episode.
There was no money involved, no desire for fame, and it was definitely a trying experience to even expose my family to this
whole ordeal.
Actually doing the show was a very difficult choice for us to make, as I know there would
be critics and naysayers pointing fingers. All of their comments I have heard and continue to hear, but it still did not deter
me from making this critical choice. I did not do this out of the 'fame' respect, as I did not want to be known, nor
my family. Neither did we do this for the money, as there was none to be exchanged. Our choice was purley to let
others know that the 'other side is right next to us at all times.' If all the skeptics only knew what lingers right
beside them, and the unknowingly invitations we give to the dark side to interact with or influence our lives, they would
all think much differently, don't you agree?
August 10th, was the first time we all got to view it for ourselves as a family. I just
sat there shaking and crying at times, reliving some of the areas they portrayed from our interviews. They skipped a
lot of information from the original story, that can only be read at Guardian Tales, but they got the gist of the story
down pretty well. The only thing I was really disappointed in was that they did not show any of the interview with 'Cody',
my son Josh, himself. He has not spoken about that time since it happened when he was younger. The director of
the show spent hours with him to loosen him up to actually sit down and speak. It was all in a private setting for him
and she told me some things afterwards in confidence that he had revealed to her, while he was in tears reliving this experience.
I really wanted to hear what he had on his heart. They also left the viewers with the notion that my husband, 'Dale',
didn't really believe what was going on, but in his interviews with the crew he told them how frightened he became as time
passed and that he too started witnessing the strange noises for himself and coming to grips with the reality that 'Cody'
was acting way beyond what a normal child of his age should have been.
I was very impressed with how they re-created the poloaroid photo, it gave me chills to see
it again in those small hands and the whole scene came back to me like it was yesterday. (By the way, you
will read from the original story that the photo was placed on the icebox for a very long time in hopes that visitors, family,
etc...that would come by could help identify the people, and then as mysteriously as it appeared, it disappeared!)
They also did an excellent job in finding an actor and dressing him accordingly to all my
descriptions of the Indian Shaman. All the actors did a great job, and I was pleased with the 'Jan' character...she
showed the tense stress factor that I was going through on a personal level so as not to get my family all upset and frightened
over things they couldn't possibly understand at the time. I remember the director asking me how I could have remained
so calm and strong through all this ordeal and I told her that I've been experiencing the paranormal since I was 5 and it
was something I never discussed fully with my family, fearing thier own ridicule towards me. And also, seeing that
my son inherited the gift of being a sensitive, this was something I had to slowly introduce into the family to try and
have them understand what was going on. (Josh, as soon as he could form broken sentences would astound us with
predictions....like, the phone was going to ring and it would be so and so, up to the point of actually telling my grandma,
when he was only 2, she was going to die at 'Sanny claus time, by eating old food'...She died two months later,
Christmas Eve, of food poisoning.)
I'm going to have to sit back and watch the program again, this time a little calmer, so I
can review certain scenes over again, and I will post more thoughts here soon.
Some ask, 'How is 'Cody' doing now?'
'Cody' is sixteen now and still remembers everything that happened. The original story
began when he was just a toddler, almost 3. The production company probably had to change his age because it was
difficult finding an actor that age to portray the evil tendencies needed, I'm sure. He has grown into a cautious
young man, choosing his friends carefully, and has remained a rather quiet individual. We both still feel things
at times, and hear things around the house and witness strange paranormal activities, but we both pray together to rid the
home of anything that could have followed us home, or came in with someone else for that matter. (Sometimes spirits
are like stray cats and dogs...they always seem to show up on certain doorsteps...)
Others ask, 'Why did Man show up as a little boy at first?'
I believe 'Man' told Cody that originally he was the victim of an abduction by a stranger,
to gain my sons trust and sympathy to allow him to come home with him. 'Cody' remembers that in the park, when the vision
of a little boy came to him, the boy replied, 'May I play with you?', and Cody of course said 'yes', then when it was time
to leave the park, the little boy asked Cody, 'May I come with you?' and Cody said 'yes'. When they arrived back home,
the little boy asked Cody 'May I come in with you?', and so forth, and actually asked Cody finally, 'May I live with you?'.
This entity was consistently asking for 'permission', there is a definite pattern to all this. Man came into our lives
as an innocent spirit, with politeness and careful intergration into our lives. Then as he got rooted into my sons life,
he started developing into what he truly was. The charade was over. He no longer needed the guise of a 'pathetic, sorrowful,
little boy'.
Readers, beware,....this is how spirits duplicate your lost loved ones when you are messing
with Ouija boards and the other side.
