RSPK, or 'Recurrent spontaneous psycho kinesis', in which a human being actually causes physical disturbances unconsciously.  This occurs when the host usually has an extremely stressful situation that effects their mental state and it can create objects around them to react mechanically by an outpouring of psychokinetic energy. Objects can be moved or broken, windows or drinking glasses shattered (see this story for actual photos http://www.guardiantales.freewebspace.com/JAN-Glass.html ) fires started, items can fly through the air, beds can shake and even in rare cases, bruises or marks on the body can appear.  Interruptions with all things that are electrical, like appliances, wrist watches, television sets, stereos, etc...can also be caused by the person's own mental activity.  Apparitions or ghostly images, sometimes seen as monstrosities can also be the result of their own minds reflection of their inner struggle with stress, like our own demons showing their shadows, not in the literal sense mind you, but in the sense of how we perceive our own pain and frustrations...in other words they aren't actual paranormal entities or figures from the other side.   

Noisy ghosts are what we usually define as a 'Poltergeist'.  They can cause quite an array of disturbances just like the ones mentioned above and also enjoy using items as flying trajectories.  They also like making items disappear and reappear (often having them reappear in different locations.), moving and rearranging furniture and other decorative pieces, making strange noises, knockings and loud crashing's.  Half the time they are typical hooligans and pranksters that love to get your attention so they can live off the energy of your own fear.  Some of the other times they can be a prelude to something more sinister, even to the extent of being downright evil in its existence around you.

The strange noises, knockings and crashing's are sometimes identifiable as actual tangible objects being struck together or making contact with walls, floors and ceilings.  At other times, these noises can occur with nothing to explain their cause of impact; like being inside walls, below the floors, or just happen out of thin air.  Some have heard 'train like' rumblings and jet engine noises, others have explained that they heard something extremely heavy bash across the walls or just manifest in the middle of the room with no visual explanation.   I have read that these 'out of no where' audio disturbances can be a result of the poltergeist trying to cross over from their dimension into ours, atoms hitting atoms, molecules smashing against each other for dominance over resistance, or for creating an 'entrance' causing a insignificant atomic blast, like matter hitting matter in our world, an action that causes a re-action in terms of friction.  Picture an unfriendly intruder lunging at your front door with all their might and not breaking through the first couple of times.

Why do poltergeists show up?  Who can really tell the answer entirely?  They can be conjured up by the use of Ouija boards or other items of divination; even speaking the names aloud of some more infamous demonic entities mentioned in numerous religious texts can invite them into your home.  They can also follow you home from various places, or be dropped off by visiting guests that had no idea they had a 'stow away' attached to their presence.  A lot of times, poltergeists are attracted to youths, because of their natural and over abundance of energy, especially on the onset of puberty.  Another factor with younger subjects is that they have a good few years of psychological growing while going through adolescence and they can be subject to their own creation of poltergeist activity as mentioned above with the RSPK definition, thus unconsciously causing self induced un-haltered energetic activity around their immediate surroundings.

All in all, trying to decipher poltergeist activities into separate categories, or trying to define what is truly occurring within your own surroundings, whether it be at home, the office, or a variety of other places, is a difficult task for sure.  Is it a ghost or is it you yourself causing this phenomenon?  Are there factors of stress, or high natural energy we can add into the equation that could possibly be causing you or someone in your household to release this type of energy as a psychokinetic ability?  Or is there something more paranormal at hand?  Identifying the cause is crucial, and tricky, but can be done with a process of elimination in most cases.
