The main purpose of this site is to post tracks, list gigs, and show art. All
other content is for your infotainment, my self-indulgence, and to make that "artist networking" thing easier for all of us.
NEWS Three Hal Leonard instructional titles are now published
under the authorship of Greg P. Herriges (to differentiate
this author from the excellent Illinois-based author/scholar whose name is also Greg Herriges): the book/CD WORLD
GUITAR, and two additions to the empire of the triangle-headed yellow god of self-help-lit: ACOUSTIC and ROCK GUITAR SONGS FOR DUMMIES. More HL book/CDs
are in progress, so stay tuned...
The Greg Herriges CD IT PLAYS ME is available on New
Folk Records, through all major retailers online and off, plus iTunes, CD Baby, etc. This instrumental, mostly-acoustic venture was graced by the musical touch of Gao
Hong (pipa), A. Pavan (tabla), Troy Berg (perc of allsorts), John Wright (bass), and Jesse Sheehan (tabla II). Listen to bits
of it in SOUNDS.
NEW
FOLK RECORDS PRESS RELEASE
Announcing
the release of IT PLAYS ME, the first solo CD from Minneapolis-based eclectic guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Greg Herriges.
With roots in the West and branches reaching Eastward, Greg Herriges's music mesmerizes and dazzles in sensitive guitar pieces
("Particles and Waves," "Sliver"), bouzouki-driven Arabesque vamps ("Ashura" and the title track), and new-age Orientalism
("Dragon Song," "Stella"). Accompanying Herriges is a diverse lineup of artistes including Chinese pipa virtuoso Gao Hong,
Indian tabla player A. Pavan, allsorts ethnopercussionist Troy Berg, and bassist John Wright (of the Celtic folk/rock duo
Lehto and Wright). A must for any fan of acoustic eclectica, IT PLAYS ME is the groundbreaking start of Greg Herriges's global
explorations.
