Lit buttons for empeg / RioCar mp3 players:

Greenlights offers translucent colored lit buttons and knobs for your empeg or RioCar in-car MP3 player. Button/knob sets come in five translucent colors - red, blue, smoke, green, and amber; and also in crystal clear and non-translucent black. The colors were custom matched to the lenses currently offered by BC LaserWorks. Follow the steps below to give your empeg / RioCar the glow!


What you need:

  1. Lit buttons in your choice of colors.
  2. Lighting kit and optionally kit install services from Eutronix.
  3. Hijack kernel to enable the lights.
    To install Hijack: Tony's empeg Logo Editor for Windows or the Unix commands listed under "Installing the Kernel" on the Hijack page.
  4. Matching colored lenses from BC LaserWorks (formerly Filener).

News:

9/19/07 -
Shipping to empeg owners outside of the USA has gotten one step easier. PayPal now allows for a separate rate scale for international shipping. Even with this change, Greenlights same low shipping prices still apply - $2.00 within the USA, $3.50 outside of the USA (slightly higher for large orders).

Aside from that, no news (in almost two years) is good news. Lit buttons are still for sale and available for immediate shipment. Color modification ideas have come up, but still need to be tested. Potential for future projects is constrained by other priorities, but you never know when opportunity will arise. Stay tuned.


12/3/05 -
Lit buttons are still available and ready for quick shipment. You will receive your order within 4 days (domestic) or 10 days (international), according to recent experience.

In other news: Filener Laser, provider of empeg colored lenses, has changed names to BC LaserWorks. Plans for colored round NewNewFace buttons have been canceled. Metal buttons are still being considered.


8/14/05 -
Gallery updated showing stock colors lit up in the dark, lit in daylight, and unlit in daylight.

The Greenlight website is live, with its initial product offering: the long awaited empeg / RioCar Lit Buttons. The curse is broken!


5/21/05 -
Look for Greenlights at the Amersfoort 2005 empeg owners meet July 9-11 to get lit buttons at a reduced price. No PayPal fee, no currency conversion fee, no shipping charges, and no waiting for them to ship.

Please note: All orders placed between July 1st, 2005 and July 15th, 2005 will be shipped the morning of July 19th, 2005.
