It's very important for us

to have an inclusive culture

where everyone feels comfortable

that they can get any job when

they walk through the door and

people can prosper in this company.

 That's been true about

gender and about race and

it's going to be true in the future

about gay and lesbian rights.

Quote above is from Jeffrey R. Immelt,

Chairman & CEO of the General Electric Company,

from his Global All Employee Broadcast, March 25th, 2003. (ref WSJ 6/7/2003)

GlobalAge.org is a volunteer, self-funded, grass-roots organization committed to educating employees, managers, and human resource specialists to reach a better understanding of LGBT workplace issues.  Our website's name was chosen because we truly live in a global society and we need to educate ourselves and others to find a better way to deal with our differences.  These materials are copyrighted. They are open to all, but we require that you let us know what you are using and that you reference our website for that which you use.

My intent is to lay a foundation, a template, to help employees (originally and especially at General Electric businesses) to form their own grass-roots GlobalAge-type groups (with the ultimate goal of helping companies create their own corporate recognized and corporate financially supported LGBT Pride Forums).  One preliminary example of my early free support for General Electric can be found at www.GlobalAge.org/home  (That web page is only for historical and is no longer used due to lack of web support personnel.)

GlobalAge is not just for show.  It is not you standard, run-of-the-mill corporately mandated, funded, directed, and controlled affinity group organization.  Having a GlobalAge-type group will not add points to your HRC score.  GlobalAge does not bear the logo of any company ... never has, never will.  GlobalAge is a belief in a certain set of principles substantiated by demonstrated actions based on those beliefs.  We look toward diversity leaders such as IBM, Xerox, JPMorganChase, Motorola, and SC Johnson for sharing best practices and as our role models.

There are many local LGBT employee affinity groups recognized by their businesses across the nation. (For more information see www.HRC.org.)  As is the case with many leading employee LGBT diversity groups, for example IBM, these web pages are neither funded, sponsored nor endorsed by GE or any of its subsidiaries or any other company or business.

Diversity: It's not an obligation -- it's an opportunity. (ref MorganStanley ad)
