Fri Mar 26, Recognizing Same-Sex Couples: Should Connecticut Change the Law?

UNITY, Quinnipiac University School of Law's Gay/Straight Alliance, in conjunction with the Connecticut Bar Association, is hosting an all-day symposium on marriage equality. The symposium is set in debate-form and features such speakers as Mary Bonauto of GLAD, William Duncan of Brigham Young University, Rob Wintemute of King's College in London, and Maggie Gallagher of the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy. The day's program will cover a variety of topics, including the current state of Connecticut's law, National and International developments, historical and religious perspectives on marriage, and the impact of same-sex marriage on families and children. The LGBT People of Color group is a drop-in discussion group/social/support group for queer group of all backgrounds. People of African American, Latino, Native American, Asian, Indian, Arabic, and Multi-Cultural descent particularly encouraged to apply. The goal of this group is to address the issues an LGBT person of color faces everyday and to have social outings that bring us all together. The group will meet bi-weekly on Sundays from
5pm to 7pm starting in April. The meetings will take place at Outreach, Madison & south central Wisconsin's LGBT community center (600 Williamson St, Suite P-1).
