Walter
Bruggeman says of Ann: “[She] lives at the
interface of
poetry and faith…Her words are words of faith, but they are
chastened with severe pathos. All the while, her pathos is
encompassed by a voice of hope that knows the darkness well, but
refuses to give in.”
A writer,
speaker, liturgist and workshop leader, she is the author of seven
books, including: Family Faith Stories, Westminster Press, 1985;
Kneeling In Bethlehem, Westminster Press, 1987; Searching For Shalom,
Westminster/John Knox Press, 1987; Kneeling In Jerusalem, W/JK Press,
1991; Psalms of Lament, 1995, W/JK Press; Putting The Amazing
Back Into Grace, W/JK Press, 1999; and Faith In Words, Co-edited with
Louis Weeks, Geneva Press, 2004.
In 2005, Ann received the Peace Seeker
Award from the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship.

The dark
night of the soul is often taken for clinical depression.
Although they may overlap, when the dark night is primary, one
perceives that his or her trials are going someplace. In
depression, however, many find that their functioning in the world has
come to a standstill. We will learn about their similarities
and differences, and discover the “gift” of your
own dark night.

Paxton
United Methodist Church
Free Will
Offering/.35 ceu
We believe that one of the
best ways we can support our troops is to listen to them. Dr.
Richard Denison will talk about “The Battle Mind,”
experienced by troops in the field, and for a long time
afterward. There will be a panel, moderated by Dr. David
Reed, consisting of military personnel who have been on the ground in
Iraq and Afghanistan; representatives from the chaplaincy corps, and
spouses who must take care of the home front. We will close
with a service of Assurance of Forgiveness & Grace.
