Sample Workshops Oriental Dance Turkish Gypsy (Romani) Style: Eva has observed Turkish Rroma (Gypsies) both on Istanbul's stages and in Sulukule on several of her long stays in Turkey. She established a strong base in Turkish Oriental Dance with her first dance teacher Anahid Sofian. From these experiences Eva has compiled dance moves, particularly many of the traditional gestures used by the Romani dancers of Turkey. For this workshop she has choreographed a dance to the song "Sulukule" in 9/8 rhythm. You will learn this dance and the music will be available. |

Turkish Karsilama Workshop
August 27 - 29 Salt Lake City, UTAH
Sat. 8/28 performance and Sun. 8/29 (12:15 - 3:15) three hours of Turkish Romani Karsilama dance including video viewing of unreleased footage of Romani dancers in Sulukule and "folk" gesturing and dancing at Romani festivals, in the street and in their homes.
