SBN Cleo Randall was a 1st Degree Black Belt and member of the World Kuk Sool Association when he opened the Jacksonville dojang in 1994 at the South Plaza Shopping Center. The location provided separate dressing rooms, a small office and a 1600 sq. ft. climate controlled training area, which seemed to shrink with the growing student population. In June 1995 our Grandmaster, Kuk Sa Nim, along with the Mayor and Police Chief of Jacksonville, officiated the formal Grand Opening of the school. Kuk Sa Nim at Grand Opening The ceremony was followed by a short demo and the first Kuk Sool Super Seminar held here to the joy of all who attended. The school has continued to grow with students and in size to now include a separate lobby and private office area. Additionally, the open field in the rear has provided many opportunities for the advanced students to train outside without the confines of walls. (The only limits outside have been our ability to tolerate the sometimes oppressive heat and humidity of the Arkansas summers.) We continuously strive to offer a clean, healthy and safe environment for our students, families and visitors that is conducive to providing quality training in martial arts. An enhanced student curriculum at the center provides for seasonal activities such as holiday parties and picnics that are filled with fun games for the kids and give all students the opportunity to interact in a festive atmosphere. Workshops are held where students focus on a specific area of training to enhance their knowledge and skills. The Center also hosts an annual seminar conducted by Grandmaster Kuk Sa Nim, founder of Kuk Sool WonTM, accompanied by some of the master instructors in Kuk Sool Won. A member of the World Kuk Sool Association (WKSA), the school is one of over 400 Kuk Sool WonTM schools located worldwide and in most major U.S. cities. This enables students to transfer between WKSA schools, continuing their training and progress. This is especially beneficial to our military students with the Center’s location just a few miles south of the Air Base here. (see location map) Visitors are always welcomed at the Center and are encouraged to observe classes. (Calling ahead of time for class information insures viewing and appropriate session) If you are interested in joining or would like more information about the Center, please feel free to telephone or stop by for a visit. The Center offers several different membership programs, striving to accommodate each student. |
