• IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE PRINCESS: A new album is released, but this time under Douglas Benford's own name rather than si-cut.db. The CD is entitled In the Footsteps of the Princess and is on the 12x50 label. Below is the press release ...

  

• OFFICES AT NIGHT: The si-cut.db album Offices at Night has now been pressed up and is officially on release! Very nice it sounds and looks too... Composed/constructed originally between 1999-2001, Fällt have proposed this now be the first part of a three volume series; the 2nd and 3rd albums will available as special downloads to go with Fällt designed CD-Rs and packaging. The complete series will appear as follows:
  • CD 1 - si-cut.db | Offices at Night (originals)
  • CD 2 - Various Artists | Offices at Night [Versions 1]
  • CD 3 - si-cut.db | Offices at Night [Versions 2]
  Artists confirmed so far for the CD2 project include Stephan Mathieu, Tu m', Sebastien Roux, Mitchell Akiyama, and Mapstation.

• REBEL:ART: A si-cut.db track from Offices at Night, "Pass Out" is featured on German CD-Rom/Magazine Rebel:Art; plus the track "Don't Ask" by Stephan Mathieu & Douglas from their Reciprocess v2 album on Fällt / Bip-Hop and an additional solo track by Stephan. The magazine/CD contains an article on the two artists as well. Stephan & Douglas are discussing future collaborations, based on their last gig together at Avril Dot, Paris.

• FROM TEARS: BEACH ARCHIVE: The new si-cut.db album for Bip-Hop has been been completed, entitled From Tears: Beach Archive including video collaboration ("Belonging") with Vancouver based Pixelwrangler. Audio mastered by Twerk (as was Find Some Shade) and artwork is now being finalized. Tracklisting:

• SEDUCTION OF THE ART OF NOISE: An exclusive track "Donna", a version of an Art of Noise piece from 1983 by si-cut.db & BitTonic (I. Garrelfs) is on the compilation The Seduction of The Art of Noise next to AON versions by Benge, Chi2, Hexstatic and others. A joint release from labels Karvavena and Iris Light.

• GIGGING: After recent contrasting gigs in Paris (3: the Bip-Hop nights on the Batofar, Capital Sonores with Iris Garrelfs, which received a nice Wire review, Avril Dot with Stephan Mathieu), London (with Thomas Fehlmann and Ljubljana); After a great UK tour with DJ ip@bip-hop.com a.k.a. Philippe Petit, Douglas had a further si-cut.db set at Athens massive Synch festival; future confirmed gigs are in Brussels (with Frank Bretschneider & Pan/tone) and Lille, France (with Pole and Jonas Bering).

• ELECTRONAUTES: To accompany the Electronautes festival in Paris, celebrating 5 years of the Batofar in February, the Bip-Hop label held their Generation nights # 52 + 53 + 54 + 55. A special CD compilation of artists on the label was issued featuring an exclusive si-cut.db track "Motif" along with a video for the si-cut.db soundtoys track "Rosalind" by OBTIC. Compiled by Philippe Petit, and already a collectors item, the album also featured Komet (Frank Bretschneider), Tonne, Bern, Twine, Sarah Goldfarb, Johan Skugge, Wang Inc., Phase 4 and a DJ excerpt by Petit himself.

• LOCKED GROOVE: The Canadian-based 1.8sec label/project have commissioned 2 si-cut.db tracks, with "locked groove intros", which will be doubled with 2 tracks by Venetian Snares on a 12" EP. Other artists contributing to the series include Richard Chartier, Tim Hecker, Mitchell Akiyama, Duul_Drv, Taylor Deupree, Kim Cascone, 3x3is9, and Roel Meelkop.

• FOUND SOME SHADE: A track from Find Some Shade was used on the television show Something to be Desired (Episode 1C, to be exact: Windows Media advised). It's Pittsburgh based and along the lines of a Dawson Creek-style soap. The album also edged its way into the Wire magazine Office Ambience chart.

• BUY SOME SHADE: The whole Find Some Shade album is also available to download and/or buy the CD at the new website Invisible Sound. It should also be up at Post Everything to buy. In addition, Bip-Hop are in talks with Apple's iTunes, so it may be that si-cut.db and Tennis material will emerge there...

• MATES TO SOME PILGRIM: Highpoint Lowlife has commissioned a si-cut.db remix of a track by Brighton-based Rashamon, "Mates To Some Pilgrim".

• PHOTOS.DB: Some galleries... recent photos taken whilst Douglas' artists friends Nicholas & Stephanie from Tours, France, stayed in Brentford at Doug's. There's a couple of si-cut.db live shots (in the gallery section) and some more in Manchester at Burst Couch.

• TENNIS: Ben & Douglas have been very busy on their own projects, so fitting in new Tennis material has been quite difficult, but they have been requested by the artist Tjnorris, to submit work to a project, tribryd: [un]MIX composers, which currently also includes Asmus Tietchens (Germany), Nobukazu Takemura (Japan), Scanner (UK), Illusion of Safety (USA), Tu'm (Italy), S.E.T.I. (UK), Mokira (Sweden), Ultra Milkmaids (France), and Dead Voices on Air (UK).

• LAPTOP TALK: Quotes from Douglas re: laptop music production apparently are in: 'Laptop Music' by Martin Delaney, a new book published by PC and available also from Amazon. More info on the book... "Part technical guide, part lifestyle manual... a book that reflects the unique and ever-changing world of laptop music." -- M. Delaney.

• MILK FACTORY: A nice interview with Douglas was recently put at The Milk Factory website along with reviews of the recent releases and more importantly some Si-cut.db wallpaper!

• LOUD RADIO: Jan 19th, 2004 will see a 60 minute show of Si-cut.db favourite choices, to be featured on the LOUD!Xplosion RadioShow, Radio OndeFurlane, Udine, north-east Italy. • OFFICES AT NIGHT WILL SEE LIGHT OF DAY: The legendary 2001 Si-cut.db album Offices at night is now being pressed up by Fällt for January/February release with Wire magazine adverts confirming this, apparently!

• MAIL ORDER: A lot of Si-cut.db and Tennis releases are now available via mail order through Douglas. Payment can be made using Paypal. Click on the Order link of this site to be sent an e-mail with the full list of what's available.

• ELECTRONIC WELFARE: The BackGround label are releasing a compilation, an Electronic Welfare event CD linked with their nights in Dusseldorf and have requested a new Si-cut.db track, as Douglas played there ealier last year. The track is entitled 'No Closure'; BackGround Si-cut.db material is now available at PostEverything and the Si-cut.db Public EP 12" on ATC / BackGround can now be obtained through Douglas also (see above).

• FIND SOME SHADE: The latest CD album by Si-cut.db, Find some Shade, mastered by Twerk (Shawn Hatfield, who is also mastering the next Bip-Hop Si-cut.db album) is distributed by Cargo in the U.K. and now available at Highpoint Lowlife, Revolver (U.S.), Amazon (U.K.), and Warp (Worldwide).

• BELONGING: Completed collaboration, 'Belonging', visuals by PixelWrangler (a.k.a. Jon Anastasiades, Vancouver), music by Si-cut.db. This video will appear as a Quicktime movie addition to the next Si-cut.db album on Bip-Hop, entitled From Tears: Beach Archive.

• UND.AND: The collaboration of Mathieu / Benford (a.k.a. Full Swing / Si-cut.db) mastered by Henner Dondorf (Chain Reaction) is distributed by Cargo in the U.K. and now available at Bip-Hop, Fällt, Amazon(U.K.), and Warp.

• POSSET VS. SI-CUT.DB: A new CD-R EP entitled Posset vs. Si-cut.db is released. Here is the tracklisting:

• FEIN RAUS: Also finally released is the Si-cut.db mix of Marc Marcovic (a.k.a. Marc Weiser of Rechenzentrum) on a 12" EP, next to remixes by T. Raumschmiere, Christian Kleine, and Rechenzentrum on the Fein Raus label through Kompakt in Germany.

• ONE WORLD INTERVIEW: Last September BBC national Radio One had a One World show special on Bip-Hop, with interviews with Philippe from the label and Douglas (about Sprawl, etc.), with a mix of Bip-Hop music by Philippe.

• FLAT PACK ANTENNA: Still available, but very few copies left, in aid of Resonance FM is the Flat Pack Antenna compilation (500 only numbered edition vinyl LP). Released on Hearing Aid records (YAH 001) and containing 29 tracks by various artists incl. Tennis, Benge, Jem Finer, Illuminati... The Tennis track is a one minute one entitled 'Redmur'. Buy it at PostEverything or pick it up at Tate Modern!

• BIP-HOP GENERATION V.8: Tennis will have work on the Bip-Hop Generation v.8 CD compilation, next to tracks by Murcof, Komet and Pan/tone next year (due for late spring / summer 2004).

• GIGS GALORE: Highlight gigs Douglas has played at recently incl. Interplay 2 (London), Miso (Glasgow), Sintesi festival (Italy) next to Mitchell Akiyama & Francisco Lopez; future ones at Tours, & Bip-Hop nights, Batofar, Paris, both in France; this winter/spring, and the odd talk to unversity students about Sprawl and his odd career...! • POCKET MONEY: A new track by Si-cut.db, "Pocket Money", can be found on BackGround records Futuristic Experiments 6 compilation (BG-024 /background 034), next to tracks by Akufen, Ben Nevile, Dave Miller, Andy Vaz, Sutekh, Helvetica (Mitchell Akiyama), Rhythm_Maker, Portable & db (no relation).

• WARPED TRACK: Another new exclusive Si-cut.db track will soon be on a Warp records Warpmart compilation next to tracks by Cassetteboy, Yasunao Tone & Hecker, Team Doyobi, Dmx Krew, Ardisson, The Gasman, Adam Johnson, Intricate, Fujiya & Miyagi, Fennesz & Boom Bip.

• UND.AND: The Full Swing / Si-cut.db album, Und.And, by Stephan Mathieu & Douglas on Bip-Hop / Fällt has just finished being pressed and should be available now. Delays were due to printing problems.

• 2004 BIP-HOP ALBUM: Work is continuing on the next Si-cut.db album on Bip-Hop, scheduled for early 2004 release. (Some new tracks in a 4/4 have been sent to BackGround to await reponse also).

• POST-EMBLEM: An exclusive Si-cut.db track, "Post-Emblem", will be available on a CD with the printed German magazine Ultrazinnober, the track was inspired by this text. Douglas on the track: "Like the idea of the expansions of hard drive memory, often my music is created in (relatively) simple ways, with pretty basic software; I may then come back to the piece years later, using new processing powers, ideas and effects. The original track was done simply using 'MIDI' (and analogue equipment) in the mid-90s, but then the whole original track has been re-designed, edited, in 2003, using contempoary generative software, and also put through newer digital sequencing software, to create newer possibilities. (also making the 'old' interface with the 'new'), unavailable say ten years ago. To me, the original seed of the piece and the way it became years later reflects the ultra-rapid speed at which technology is changing, as described in the Mitra piece."

• OFFICES AT NIGHT: Latest Fällt news on the Si-cut.db album Ofices at Night: "Further forthcoming projects include: Aut | Home; si-cut.db | Offices at Night; and the final release of the long-overdue Ferric burn-to-order CDR series."

• LONGPLAYER: Upcoming commissioned remix by Si-cut.db will be one for Jem Finer's Longplayer project. Other artists Jem has approached include 'Brian Eno, Scanner and Radiohead'! The remix will use samples from this 1000 year duration composition.

• PAN/TONE REMIX: Another Si-cut.db remix has been commissioned by Bip-Hop for a new vinyl off-shoot A Subtle Move; this 12" project also involves remixes of Pan/tone by Jeff Milligan-Algorithm, Akufen, Deadbeat, Ricardo Villalobos, T.Raumschmiere, Mike Shannon, Monolake, Jetone, Tonne, Jeremy P Caulfield, Losoul, Falco Brockseiper & Mia from SubStatic, Cabanne and Andy Vaz.

• STALLING: A short Si-cut.db track, "Stalling", was used in April in a music installation set by Deep Burnt in Glasgow.

• PLACARD LAPTOP: Douglas is playing in a rare live Si-cut.db laptop set at the free Placard festival London, with a host of other excellent artists.

• SPRAWL MIX DVD: The Sprawl mix of Si-cut.db and bitTonic music with Dfuse visuals, released as part of a Mixmasters DVD (Moonshine, US) was broadcast on an Australian TV broadcast on 12th March; the DVD was also nominated for an MTV award.

• REDMUR: There is a Tennis one minute long exclusive piece "Redmur" for a compilation vinyl album to raise funds for Resonance FM.

• RECYCLED SWEETS: At the SonicRecycler event at Watermans Art Centre, Tennis played 3 new tracks and in addition, Douglas and Ben did their own 'recycled' versions of 2 early Tennis tracks from the Wooden Sweets album.

• SYDNEY SONICS: Douglas will be presenting a special show on Resonance FM about the Sydney electronic sonic scene with guests Minit and Phoebe Jeebe on 30th July, a Radioqualia show special, at 20.30 London time.

• TOURS GALORE: There is a U.K. Bip-Hop tour in September with Si-cut.db and Philippe Petit of Bip-Hop DJing; similar Highpointlowlife and Sprawl tours are planned as well as a projected Sprawl tour of Japan in March.

• UPCOMING SPRAWLS: Upcoming Sprawls include Oz and Bip-Hop Sprawls, Interplay 2, and next year there will be a 'bigger and better' sonicRecycler 2.

• SOUNDTOY: The Tonne Soundtoy compilation on Bip-Hop, with the 2 Si-cut.db tracks, has gone out to radio stations and magazines across the globe. In London, the Si-cut.db tracks have been played out on XFM's Flo-Motion.

• 45 SECONDS OF: The Simballrec 45 seconds of compilation is released now, with the Si-cut.db "Frank Rip" track along with 45 secs by Jan Jelenik, Martin Rev, Rothko, etc.

• AIRPORT HELL: The Marc Weiser (Rechenzentrum) and Si-cut.db live collaboration, has been entitled Airport Hell. Recorded at Sprawl's Interplay, this may see the light of day on the radio or another form in the future...

• VISUAL AUDIO COLLABORATION: Vancouver-based Jon Pearson who works on film special FX, and Douglas have decided to collaborate on a visual audio piece...which should immerge in some form or other!

• BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS: BackGround records of Dusseldorf, who last year released the ATC Public EP by Si-cut.db, have commissioned more pieces from Douglas: remix, compilation track and possible further EP...

• SPRAWL TURNS 7: The 7th birthday Sprawl with Wang Inc, I0, Scanner, Toop, Doron Sadja live is featured at BBC. Sprawl in Feb. will feature Leafcutter John, Joerg Piringer, Alexander Wendt, and Lakuti. Further Sprawls outside London are planned on April 13th at Colchester Art Centre with Kaffe Matthews, BitTonic, Jem Finer and Si-cut.db (all live), and June 7th at Watermans Arts Centre in Brentford (Douglas' hood) with Scanner, Bit Tonic, Tennis, Simon Fisher Turner and Ticklish.

• SI-CUT.DB LIVE: Si-cut.db dates confirmed; 10th Jan. (FRAC Metz, France), 23rd Jan. (Link, Bologna, Italy) and 4th Feb. (Club Transmediale, Berlin). A Si-cut.db trip to New York is tentatively planned for the end of March, and also gigs in Greece and Poland. • HEALTHY TRACK: There will be a 3-minute Si-cut.db piece in a National Health Service installation by Macao of Deep Burnt.

• BLINK: Si-cut.db had a 5 second track on the 12times50 project CD-R, entitled "Blink".

• MIXMASTERS DVD: The DVD on Moonshine Movies, AV:X.08 Mixmasters Episode 4, with the 10 minute mix of Dfuse / Si-cut.db / BitTonic is now available.

• POSSET: The Posset track "For Close Personal Attention Call..." (Si-cut.db remix) and the exclusive Si-cut.db track: "Tuesday is the New Wednesday" is planned for a possible release as an EP by Newcastle based Posset.

• DIRECTIONS: There are 3 Si-cut.db tracks on the Fällt compilation CD Directions 2002 (ltd. to 50 copies!). Other artists on the compilation include: Christopher Willits, Ian Andrews and Warmdesk. All 3 tracks will also be featured on the forthcoming Si-cut.db album Offices At Night also due on Fällt.

• SUSTAIN: An exclusive new Si-cut.db track "Sustain" appears on San Francisco's Prototracks CD magazine vol .3. Other artists on the CD include: John Tejada, O.S.T, Adult, Daniel Wang, and Dabyre. Prototracks is overseen by Jonah Sharp.

• NEARSIDE/TRACES: Exclusive Si-cut.db "Nearside/Traces" download still available from 8bit.com (run by Thorsten Sideboard). Tracks from BitTonic, CK FDexter Haven, and Janek Schaefer are also available on this site.

• AUGMENT: Exclusive Si-cut.db download ( "Augment") available starting September 21 from Tu M'. Tracks by Warmdesk, Carl Stone, Motion, and Datach'i will also be available.

• CHILLED DJ: Douglas just did a Muzik U.K. magazine interview (with chill out stalwarts Mixmaster Morris and Rob Da Bank) about "Chilled DJ". Needless to say this was tongue in cheek -- it's doubtful if it will be printed.

• BIP-HOP 2003: There will be a new Si-cut.db album on Bip-Hop in 2003. More details later...

• KOMPAKT REMIX: Douglas just did a remix for Marc Weiser of Rechenzentrum (as Marc Marcovic, in his impro/latin acoustic guise). The remix will come out eventually through Kompakt. More collaborations with Marc are planned...

• POSSET REMIX: Si-cut.db/Douglas is currently working on another improvised guitar group remix. The group, Posset (No Fi) based in Newcastle, will also be supplied with a new Si-cut.db track for them to remix, which is slated for a projected EP (label unknown).

• B92: Si-cut.db's production of St Etienne's song "B92" (formerly "Rockpalast") will be released on their new album Finisterre (Mantra) in September. Co-production and engineering by Ben Edwards at Expanding Studios.

• ARS ELECTRONICA: Tracks from both Si-cut.db's Enthusiast and Tennis' Europe on Horseback are to be used in the opening video presentation of Ars Electronica Festival, Linz, Austria.

• MANIFEST: The video of Tennis' track "Self Seal Mishap" called "Manifest" by Miroslav Nicic and Borjana Ventzislavova will be shown by Cinefeel at the Rendezvous festival, Paris.

• CONTUBE ALOMONAY: Tennis' "Contube Alomany" track in Datasquare space of Sonic Process exhibition with installations by Scanner, David Shea, Coldcut, Flo-Motion, etc. moves to Paris mid-October, and in 2003 Berlin & Porto tbc. Curated by Centre Pompidou, Paris.

• CONTUBE ALAMONY IN SONIC PROCESS: Tennis are having their track "Contube Alamony" from Europe on Horseback used in the Sonic Process exhibition, curated by the Pompidou centre, Paris, and touring Europe (starts in Barcelona from May). Other artists in the exhibition include Coldcut, Scanner, David Shea, Doug Aitken and Flow Motion/Hallucinator.

• TRIBUTE TO SADE: The Tennis track "Tribue to Sade" is now out on the Spa.rk compilation EP2 Motion Re(e)leases Series.

• EXPANDING COMPILATION: evsc1:01, the Expanding CD compilation based around the series of nine 7" singles released on Expanding during 2001, is just about out now. Included are the Tennis tracks "Duck Shelf" and "Duck Shelf [Jan Jelenik Pet Sounds mix]".

• SOUNDTOYS: Tonne, a designer and musician is putting together a project for Bip-Hop, involving software music interfaces called SoundToys. A number of artists including Scanner and Si-cut.db have provided their own samples for the toys, and made two music pieces using this software; the two complete Si-cut.db tracks are entitled "Rosalind" and "Small db machine". Software and tracks will be released later in the year on Bip-Hop.

• SCREAMS FOR LEAFCUTTER: Leafcutter John recently asked some artists to provide a recording of screams. Si-cut.db/Douglas duly provided a very short MP3 of himself screaming, to possibly be incorporated in a Leafcutter piece... Other artists who screamed include Venetian Snares.

• ENTHUSIAST RELEASED: The latest Si-cut.db album, Enthusiast is now out on Bip-Hop, available worldwide.

• BELGRADEYARD INTERVIEW: An interview of Si-cut.db from June 2001 is at Belgradeyard.

• PUBLIC EP: The Si-cut.db 12" on the label A Touch of Class, originally planned as a 3 track, but released as a 2 track, is now available. It's entitled Public EP and features two tracks: "Public Confidence" and "Pedestrian Comforts".

• MIXMOVE: A 2CD compilation, entitled Mixmove 2001 to compliment the Mixmove festival, features the Si-cut.db track "Robust" (from Enthusiast) next to tracks by Dat Politics, Afronaughts and Jonas Bering.

• 45 SECONDS: The 45 second Si-cut.db track "Frank RIP' will be featured on the upcoming Simballrec compilation along with more 45 second tracks from COS (a.k.a. Chicks on Speed), DJ Spooky, Jan Jelenik, Mannequin Lung, Martin Rev, Lali Puna, Safety Scissors, Simeon/Silver Apples, Languis, OST, Phthalocyanine, D84 (a.k.a. Blevin Blectum), Electric Company, Kim Cascone, Solvent, Sutekh, Ultra Milkmaids and many others. March/April 2002 release date.

• BIP-HOP COLLABORATION: Douglas and Stephan Mathieu have been swapping sound files and tracks with each other to work on a proposed Bip-Hop released Si-cut.db/Mathieu collaboration. Douglas has so far completed 6 or so tracks already based on Stephan's sounds.

• ROCKPALAST: Douglas has just completed Si-cut.db production on a new track for St. Etienne, for their next album. Ben Edwards (Benge / Tennis) helped with engineering and co-production duties. But it sounds more "poptastic" than Tennis, so we await to see what happens with this track "Rockpalast". Btw, congratulations to singer Sarah Cracknell; she's just had a baby boy, Spencer! Ahhhh...

• TENNIS #3: The 3rd album by Tennis is in progress and due to be released on Bip-Hop. 6 or 7 tracks are recorded with 1 or 2 more to be added. In addition, the proposed FREE remix album is also underway, with remixes already in from Kim Cascone, Mikael Stravostrand, and Oren Ambarchi in his Jerker guise.

• BBC TENNIS SET: There is now a 40 minute archive of the Tennis set played for BBC Radio 3's Mixing It show, with video. The set was recorded Nov. 28, 2001 and contains tracks from the upcoming Tennis album.

• SPRAWL TOP 10: BBC on-line are featuring a Sprawl top 10 chart and bio.

• SPRAWL TURNS 6: Sprawl celebrated its 6th year of existence January 10th at the Global Cafe. Lots of new acts are being lined up for 2002. There are discussions with the Tate Modern about some future possible collaborations.

• ENTHUSIAST: The new Si-cut.db album, Enthusiast, will be released in November by Bip-Hop.

• OFFICES AT NIGHT: The master of another Si-cut.db album, Offices at Night, has been delivered to Fällt.

• AREA HISTORY: A new Si-cut.db dub track entitled "Area History" will be released on a Daydream (France) compilation.

• TOUCH OF CLASS: The BackGround Records Si-cut.db EP is now about to be released on sister label A Touch Of Class instead in Germany. A series of exclusive ''House" 12"s for the label have been suggested... if time and energy permits.

• STEPHAN MATHIEU COLLABORATION: Si-cut.db and Stephan Mathieu (Full Swing, Ritornell, Stol, Musork) have agreed to collaborate on some recordings for a Bip-Hop project.

• GENERATION V.4: Bip-Hop's Generation v.4 compilation is now out and contains two new Si-cut.db tracks, "A Shower" and "Surfeit". The CD also features tracks by Mira Calix, Twine, Datach'i, Vs_Price, and Cray.

• 45 SECOND TRACKS: Simballrec have accepted a Si-cut.db track for their 45 Second Tracks compilation. Either "Frank Rip" or "Sirens" will be used alongside tracks by D84 (from Blectum From Blechdom), Chicks on Speed, DJ Spooky, Jan Jelenik, Hood, Kid606, Languis, Mannequin Lung, Safety Scissors, Simeon (Silver Apples), Sutekh, Lamas, Kim Cascone, Mum, Pthalo, Rockin Pony and dozens of others.

• ITV1 MIXMASTERS: On Oct. 6th Sprawl made it on national U.K. TV with a ten minute audio/visual mix by BitTonic, Si-cut.db & Dfuse on ITV1's "Mixmasters" plus interviews. Si-cut.db tracks used were the unreleased "Baton", "...Hide!" and BitTonic collaboration "Recycled 200".

• SHIFTAGE: Douglas and Iris (BitTonic) have collaborated on a track for the CCA, Glasgow, entitled "Shiftage", and there is an accompanying installation.

• LOVEBYTES: Si-cut.db and BitTonic are now applying to do a piece for LoveBytes in Sheffield, England.

• MIXED DOUBLES TENNIS: The Tennis 30-min. mix, "Mixed Doubles" was broadcast on BBC London Radio station London Live on the Coldcut Solid Steel show (archived on http://www.ninjatune.net/solidsteel dated 19/6 and marked Tennis) as well as on Glastonbury Festival's Avalon radio.

• NEGATIVE SPACE 1: The new Si-{cut}.db visual and audio "experience" will be unveiled at the September Sprawl. Entitled "Negative Space 1" its is a series of personal video films that act as backing to the new music, as opposed to abstract "club visuals."

• THE WELL TEMPERED COMPUTER: Douglas Benford (Si-{cut}.db) was on German TV, as well as Sprawl partner Iris (Bit Tonic), along with such luminaries as Stockhausen. The programmme was called "The Well Tempered Computer - Are Computers able to compose?" The broadcasting of this 60-minute documentary took place on Wednesday, June 28th, 9:45 pm in the French-German Culture-TV called "ARTE."

• DETAILS OF "CHINESE WHISPERS" COMPILATION: "Unlike other remix albums, Chinese Whispers is a hermetically sealed cyclical recording remix project, but with no original track to begin with. All the artists participating had no idea who they were remixing. All they were aware of was who was involved, who these anonymous audio snippets might be from, not hearing the track they were remixing either. Stereolab provided the original unconnected miscellaneous samples (i.e. not from an existing track) to start the ball rolling, and nine remixes later were given the final samples from the last artist's track (in this case T Power), to create their final track." -- Douglas Benford
