I love playing with engines, ignition systems, magnets and old generators. My site is always under construction, but this
is what I have today.
The first five pages of the site is about the TECUMSEH Solid State Ignition systems on the HH 100,
HH 120, OH 140 and OH160 engines. This work is largely in response to two internet clubs: thesearsgardentractorgroup@yahoogroups.com and
tecumseh_engine_group.yahoogroups.com . The pages
have evolved as follows:
1. Tecumseh Solid State Igniton Autopsies, Schematics and How it Works
This page is a good place to start since it has the explanations of how the ignition
works, actual circuit diagrams, the results of autopsies used to generate the actual circuit diagrams, and
initial troubleshooting procedures.
2. Solid State Ignition Repair
This page provides repair procedures for one configuration of pn 610759.
3. Tecumseh Solid State Replacement
Tecumseh configuration and part number identification and details for an automotive replacement.
4. Pulse Transformer
Details on how to repair the Pulse Transformer on the early SSI configuration
5. SSI Charge Coil
Details on testing the charging coils and ideas on replacing. Note, only the first section on the early SSI configuration
is completed.
6 Parts Needed
7 Small Engine Flywheel Magnets
Maps of the magnetic field on flywheels. Under construction
8. Kohler Light Plant
Kohler 800 E 21 Light Plant with a Briggs and Stratton Model B Engine.
9 Miscellaneous
10. Antique Radios

Topics yet to come include:
- How to make and use a Gauss Meter to measure magnets.
- Maps of the Magnetic Field Strength on Briggs and Stratton flywheels.
