American Motors and Renault knew how important it was going to be to their future, and built the most advanced state-of-the-art assembly plant in North America. Taking lessons from leading Japanese factories, the ‘E’ shaped Bramalea plant featured just-in-time delivery of parts, preassembly stations for all major components, robotized systems for all body welds, and advanced painting systems completely computer controlled.
Despite the lack of sales success, the Premier was a success in terms of design and manufacturing.
