Sean Locke

For Sean Locke, music isn't really a choice…it is just a way of life.

Sean was born and raised in the small town of Iola, Kansas in southeastern corner of the state.  Growing up with his Grandparents,  Locke credits them for his passion for country music, since they always had music playing in the house.

When asked which artists influenced  Locke the most the he responds, " The usual suspects…Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins and The Wilburn Brothers." And it is obvious when listening to his songs – which often include a unique mix of these legendary artists.

Sean first realized his love for performing at age sixteen when he first sang on the Opry in Burlington, Kansas, which led to a few years of performing with his band on the Midwestern club circuit and VFW Halls.

Locke then made the move to Nashville to pursue his career in music.  "Since music is all I know - it's my only real skill - I thought Nashville was the only place I could actually make a living."  Soon after arriving in Nashville he started writing soon landed a publishing deal where he further developed his writing.

Sean is currently a staff writer for a joint venture between Moraine Music, owned by Grammy winning producer Brent Maher, and Songs of Welk  - both leading independent music publishing companies in Nashville.

Locke is currently in the studio with Maher working on his debut album.

When not writing or performing Sean spends his free time reading or at the movies. He says, "I'm a movie fanatic-I see almost everything that comes out from the major releases to any independent or obscure films I can see or rent here in Nashville."
