Lawrence Welk's Best Kept Secret

For 18 years Dean was the COO of Lawrence Welk's music publishing companies during which time he built Welk's copyright holdings into one of the largest, most respected and highly successful independent music publishing companies of all time.  So successful was the firm in every genre of popular music that one year it received the top publisher award at every major music industry event that recognized such endeavors.

Dean signed 11 year old Janet Jackson to her first music publishing agreement - with the approval of father Joe, of course.

Dean was a "Markett" on the top 10 single "The Batman Theme"
!

Evel Knievel was lowered into his Skycycle for his attempt to jump the
Snake River to the strains of Dean's "The Ballad of Evel Kneivel."
