RTMC 2006 Merit Award

The 6 inch f/15 refractor is shown at left and right, on top of a large German Equatorial Mount.

The OTA is designed to break into 2 sections for easy transport. It weighs 30lbs. and is made from 7 inch dia. aluminum irrigation tubing. The exceptionally good optics are by D&G Optical.

Details of the construction can be seen below and on the following pages. I fabricated all parts with the exception of the optics, cell, finders, and diagonal.

At left, the scope is shown disassembled for transport. It breaks down into two sections each about 4 feet long. They join together with a large bayonet mount at the center. A closeup of the mount is shown below.
