Words on CDs & music…

“Awesome stuff, Chris! Excellent work! [Daybreak]”

Zak Winnick (USA)

“I downloaded the "album" [Daybreak] (Do we call it that anymore?) and gave it a listen. I liked it quite a bit. I've always liked Chris's playing, but endless solo Stick isn't really my thing for everyday listening so I haven't really spent a lot of time listening to his stuff in the past. I feel the same way about Bob Culberston's CD's, BTW; it's fantastic stuff and I like to listen to it to appreciate Stick, but it's not really the kind of thing I sit around listening to all the time because it's cool music - at least not for me. Daybreak is definitely not in that category. It's good Stick, good music *and* a good listen. Definitely worth downloading. Thanks Chris.”

Dave Barrett (Canada) (post from  Stickwire)

“Your music is incredible, it has a very special feeling and is very easy to be enjoyed by any person. Your CD [Truth] is a proof of what may be doing with the Stick in the sensible way. Soon the Stick will be a very common instrument in all kinds of music.”

Roberto Lupercio, Music Director (UABC Radio 104.1 FM)

“…I have played a couple and must say I like the originals the best. [Truth]”

Jim Reilly, Stick player, instructor, interviewer, and former host of the Stick Show on CFBX-FM

“…Great work! Your sound is very pure… I especially like ‘Stick & Stones’ [Truth]. Catchy chord groove.”

Brian Baggett, Stick player

“Nice playing. Very confidant. Keep it up. [Truth]”

Steve Adelson, Stick player, instructor, & recording artist

“I enjoyed the clean recorded Stick string sounds, interesting song arrangements, the subtle finger expressions and the soulful style. [Truth]”

Emmett Chapman, Stick player & inventor

“Thank you for sending us a copy of your latest CD, ‘Truth’.  It is sooo COOL!   It has a very woodsy and wintery feel to it!  Your music is very interesting and unique…  We are considering airplay on SmoothJazz.com Radio, the Internet's #1 Jazz global radio station!”

Jamie Trent, Artist Promotion & Development, SmoothJazz.com

“I’m listening to your CD [No Words] and enjoying the clean string sounds with no effects, but lots of energy. I like the variety of Latin, jazz, and ballad rhythms you get as just a soloist and with no effects, except for a little reverb, I suppose. My favorites are ‘Believe Me’ and ‘Busy Body’, especially ‘Busy Body’ with the driving two-handed bass spilling over into the melody (prog meets Baroque). I wished there were a couple more songs using this dynamic game. Also, the title ‘Busy Body’ doesn’t do it justice. And ‘Believe Me’ has that walking jazz bass line in a circular motion that reminds me of Steve Adelson. I like your use of selected intervals at selected places in your melody lines to create a double melody line for emphasis, a most challenging and fruitful direction in applied technique.”

Emmett Chapman, Stick player, & inventor

“Your music is fantastic and very inspiring to pursue the Stick. [Truth/No Words]”

Words on “Stick eLessons”…

“I think you have covered just about everything a beginning Stick player could possibly need to get up and going and to progress rapidly.”

Pete Tapner (England)

“I had originally discovered your book Sticktionary while browsing the Chapman site. I decided to do a little Google research on the book and discovered your home page. When I found your course [eLessons] "I was hooked". Well I just received my Polycarbonate 10 string and have it fully strung and tuned. I have watched your videos and they are fantastic. I have stopped at the LH Major Scale practice until I am proficient enough to move further. I do not mind repeating an activity, especially when I know the outcome will be a fantastic one.”

Clinton Hasenberg (USA)

“For the last year, I've been busy with many things, and haven't practice Stick at all. I'm hoping that your new e-book [eLessons] will give me a fresh inspiration/re-start.”

Qua Veda (USA)

“I think your concept of integrated lessons is a really good one, and the PDF works very well, audio comes right up in iTunes.”

Greg Howard Stick player, recording artist, & instructor

“I enjoyed your updated website with excellent MP3 Stick recordings, your new e-Lessons page and your songbook with StaffTab – a comprehensive set of resources for aspiring Stick players. This should be a news item on our SE home pate.”

Emmett Chapman, Stick player, & inventor

“Thanks for putting those wonderful resources available to the world.”

Giorgio Regni (France)

“Hi Y'all. I've just downloaded Chris lessons of his website and wanted to encourage everyone to check them out if you haven’t done so already. I've found his lessons to be graded in a very helpful, simple and thorough way and this has helped me to develop my facility quickly, especially in regards to 4 finger right hand technique. As he says, the lessons are aimed at getting the adult Stickist to develop quickly and I am getting tremendous results already in the first 24 hours. I'm sure you've already recognized the inherent virtue in any of the available Stick books and I feel that to develop ourselves we have to view any of our mentors’ publications as contributions in the wider palette of "colours" and approaches, just like any other instrument, as we build on our library of resources. Thanks again Chris and I hope to see U play one day ‘in the flesh’.”

Radkon aka Konrad (Australia) (post from Stickist.com)

“I already read about 50% of the book today and it’s really great. Will be much work, but it’s exactly what I’ve been searching for - a book with lessons that explain the opportunities of the Stick step by step and that contains a lot of material to practice, practice, practice...”

J-H Günter (Germany)

Words on “The Sticktionary”…

“Well, I guess it's finally time to endorse Chris' The Sticktionary. When Chris first approached me to do a technical edit last year, the idea of going over so many chord voicings seemed quite exciting. He told me he had around 2000 choices (I told him I use about 6) with theory explanations for all. The editing process was indeed educational and rewarding. Well, the finished product is a well conceived, 376 page, spiral bound, textbook style encyclopedia of chord forms. It covers just about every variation of voicing you could imagine and then some. Not only will you get pure information, I think this book will inspire the user to explore beyond the obvious. Chris' The Sticktionary will help all players at all levels and is a must have. Thanks to him for adding such a vital tool to the Stick library.”

Steve Adelson, Stick player, instructor, & recording artist

“I am very impressed with The Sticktionary. It must have been a gargantuan task, to say the least. I’ve been using it daily and it has really helped me locate chords that I didn’t even know existed.”

Michael Kollwitz, Stick player & recording artist

“I just wanted to say that I got The Sticktionary and it’s very cool. It is really thick and has tons of interesting chords as well as good theory explanations. It must have been quite a task putting it together. There are lots of amazing shapes that I probably would never have come up with. Also, I think that it’s cool that there are some dissonant chords included. It gives you a huge spectrum to choose from. This is a great resource for any type of Stick player. Amazing book, way to go Chris!”

Ben Weber, Stick player

“I am one of the (hopefully many, many) Stick players that have bought your Sticktionary. I just want to express my thanks to you for a great book and for your online lessons thru stick.com, which I also have enjoyed. Not forgetting a BIG thumbs up also, for making the Sticktionary available for download and payable via PayPal. Great idea!”
