Born in 1962, Chris began his musical studies on the piano. Later, the electric bass became his main instrument, until 1984, when he purchased a Chapman Stick®. Chris played bass and The Stick concurrently with the progressive rock band – Tales. After five years together with the band, Chris departed and has since devoted his musical activities to The Stick.

Originally from California, Chris moved to Southern Indiana in 1996. Here he performs locally, teaches music part-time, gives occasional Stick lessons, and writes.

Chris has recorded four solo instrumental CDs. His debut – Truth was released in 2001 and followed with – No Words in 2003. In 2005, he recorded a still unreleased Christmas disc and for 2008 he offers Daybreak. In addition, he contributed a song to the Stickwire Compilation 2002 CD.

As a writer, Chris has published several works pertaining to music and The Stick: The Sticktionary - an exhaustive chord reference & educational resource, The Big Book of Polychords – a reference of polychords as applied to The Stick, New Standards – a songbook containing twelve original tunes notated in StaffTab™, and Stick e-Lessons – a multimedia lesson and exercise program.

Chris transcribed, fellow Stick player, Steve Adelson’s tune Tap Dance, which was published in the Spring 2004 issue of Jazz Improv magazine. And he was also a regular contributor to Sticknews, an on-line eZine, writing lesson-oriented articles for Stick players.

Chris’ recording of Chopsticks (used in his first Sticknews article) was used as the soundtrack for Sandra Yee’s 2006 documentary-short entitled Hoo Hoo: Losing Mother Tongue. The film was selected for two international film festivals and was an audience favorite, being honored as “Best of the Fest”.
