We
are in the midst of a large fundraising campaign for a charitable project and need to raise $3,500.
The Project:
Our work is in conjunction with a non-profit organization from the Archdiocese
of Denver called Southern Exposure. It was founded in 2000 and its mission is
to build simple, livable homes for people in Juarez, Mexico (just across the border
from El Paso, TX). The living conditions there are very harsh, and thousands of people live in cardboard shelters without
any heat, running water, or electricity.
The Home:
The typical home built by Southern Exposure is 20’ x 24’ (about the size of a two-car garage) with exterior
walls made of concrete cinder block and a roof. Each home has a metal door with a window and lock and two additional
windows that open for ventilation
Fundraising:
Our fundraising goal is $3,500, which is the cost of the building materials for
a new home. In addition, we are planning to send 12-15 members from our group
down to Juarez in 2007 to build the home in about a week.
As you can see on the graph below, our group has already raised a substantial
amount toward our goal. We are now asking for tax-deductible donations to help
us reach our goal. Any amount would be much appreciated and help toward making
a difference in the life of a homeless family.
We
encourage you to get involved with this project as it is another aspect of living out our Catholic faith and showing concern
"for the least of our brothers and sisters".
Donations:
Please make checks out to "Southern Exposure" and mail to:

In return, we will send you a receipt from “Southern Exposure” which can be used for income tax purposes.
Volunteer:
We are also in need of people willing to donate their time and talents to help with our fundraising efforts and to
go down to Juarez with us to build the home. For more information, please contact Stefan at 303-805-0562 or email stefan21@yahoo.com.
