Holder is not an Irish name, I would suspect that, after the occupation of Scotland & Ireland by the British, one or more Holder was appointed to oversee the Kings interests.

* THOMAS HOLDER, along with Ben Johnson reg., is listed as a witness
or signor of a " DOWDALL DEED". Mr. Andrew Dowdall ( native of
Killally) is awarded a certificate for service to the king of Great Britian.
He served 8 years in various capacities in sea service and command of soldiery.
He spent 3 years in prison during that time ( as a captive, I assume).
