Holly
became our first competitive dog. Her first time run in the field she
placed in the puppy stake for me. Her first time in the ring brought us
the first of five majors.
Holly's show career was very eventful. She
was shown only sporadically between trialing & her first litter. She
never competed in a show that wasn't a major. She had a specialty major,
was reserve at the Nationals, and finished in just seventeen shows. Along
the way she went Best in Futurity at the Eastern Futurity & Second Money
Female at the Central Futurity. She was the first female to go Best in
Futurity having field wins to their credit. She was also the first BIF
female to produce field winners. Shown sparingly as a special, she had
numerous Best of Breed wins - including a Best in Specialty.
In the field, she placed from Pennsylvania, to
Texas, to So Dakota. She was the first recipient of the Minnesota Brittany
Club Dual Dog of the Year award in 1974. A badly broken leg while in the
field brought about her early retirement. |
