35 Years in the Concert, Recording and
Music Business!
March 3,4 & 5, 2006 marked the 2nd Annual Java Jazz Festival held at
the Jakarta Convention Center in Indonesia. Founded and promoted by the
Asian Jazz Festival Organization's chairman, Peter F. Gontha, the festival
was a giant success with 60,000 in attendance over the three-day event.
15 stages and 1,000 performers from around the globe, including the finest
musicians & singers in Indonesia! This was the largest jazz festival
in Asia and puts Jakarta & the Java Jazz
Festival on the map as a major destination
for jazz lovers around the world! The Java
Jazz Festival ranks right at the top of international,
music festivals, and will soon be recognized on the world stage along with
the North Sea Festival, Montreux, Playboy, Montreal, etc! In a special awards
ceremony, P. F. Gontha presented to Blue Johnson, a "Recognition of
Excellence" award for "The Most Supportive Person" at this
year's Java Jazz Festival.
Also receiving awards were saxophonist Michael Paulo, keyboardist Jeff Lorber
& several Indonesian artists and musicians.

of you who are old enough to remember, Blue also spent 5 years of his career as the bass & vibe
player in the L.A. R&B-Jazz-Funk, club band, Expressway and 7 years
as the Tour-Personal Manager for the legendary Pop-Jazz-Fusion recording

Along
with his partner, jazz saxophonist Michael Paulo, Blue co-produces the talent and jazz festival for the annual
Dolphin Days
charity event at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the beautiful Kona Coast
of Hawaii's Big Island. Dolphin Days has become Hawaii's premier food, wine
and music festival and 2008 will mark the 14th year of this gala event.
Past Dolphin Days have included performances by recording artists James
Ingram, Oleta Adams, Carl Anderson, Michael McDonald, David Benoit, Jeffrey
Osborne, Rick Braun, Peter White, Don Grusin, Doc Powell, June Kuramoto,
Minako Obata, Alex Acuña, Harvey Mason, Pauline Wilson, Kenny Rankin,
Michael Paulo, Clifford Coulter, David Garfield, Michael Ruff, etc., etc......all
backed by an annual house band of L.A.'s finest session musicians! For more

Blue also lived and
worked in the music business in Thailand for 6 years. Aside from promoting
and producing international concerts in Bangkok and doing concert production
coordination for major American and Asian recording stars touring throughout
the region, Blue
also managed the sound & music dept. for KANTANA, Thailand's largest
television, video, film production studios. He also produced and wrote musical
scores, jingles and theme songs for KANTANA's numerous, award-winning, Thailand
television shows & commercials. Blue is also known in Thailand for his research and film production
coordination for the documentary film, His Majesty The King And His Talent
In Music, a film produced by the Thai Royal Palace in honor of the King
of Thailand. With his two Thai partners he also formed Bo-Tree Records and
signed, produced and recorded both Western and Thai artists. Blue speaks fluent Thai and
has worked concerts in all major venues in Bangkok and as a promoter, was
the first to bring recording artists B.B. King, David Sanborn, Patti Austin,
Michael Paulo, Don Grusin, Carl Anderson, Pauline Wilson, Ernie Watts, Charlie
Haden, Robben Ford, Freddy Ravel, Eric Marienthal, Abe Laboriel and David
Garfield to Thailand. Blue
has toured extensively within S.E. Asia, working concerts in Taipei, Hong
Kong, Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta and throughout Japan
and Australia. He is also a life-long non-smoker, never been arrested and
holds a second dan Black Belt in Shorinji Kempo Zen Martial Arts. Blue now maintains residency
in Bangkok and in Los Angeles and is currently available for concert tour
& production management, recording production assistance, CD cover design
& manufacturing, and or consultation.
